andrew_zz is an unknown quantity at this point
All racing is in two camps:

1) Normal cars (Clio V6, Impreza Turbo's, etc.)
All fall unless handling gives up (rain vrs a 4 wheel driver) or I change from thinking i could die to oh shit death is imminent.

2) Bikes (assorted)
They are all quicker, about 80 i start to catch up but by then run out of road/hit traffic. But one day a low power bike (450cc) will try it and get a shock.

I'm desperate to find an M3 to compare speeds. I know i got a little less BHP and 5 vrs 6 gears but have a good weight advantage. It would be good to try out.

Editt: Flat high Torque range makes a big difference. s54 vrs s52 makes a big difference even if the BHP is the same.

I had a race with a m-roadster in my e34 m5 it a fast car but I took it's doors off at 100mph
