yeah so my friend since the day i got my car has wanted to race me in his subaru 2.5rs.... (non turbo...) hes a dude that seriously buys everything off ebay thinks his car is awesome and drives an auto haha... So yeah thats a short background on him... a little more he thinks his car came stock with 189whp and thinks with an intake and a yes "megan" racing MUFFLER he is around 215 hp hahaha i laugh at him very hard.... hes stock the car is like 130 or something intake muffler bah.... awd auto yeah anyways you get my point.... so on to the story... we are leaving school and i pull out and am just drivng (the road is 55 mph right outside of school i just shifted to second at like 3500) anyways i hear his car coming from behind and he pulls up right beside me (no one else on the road we get out of school 4 hours before everyone else... k damn david stay on story!!!! okay so we pulls up next to me and im like whatever so i push on it a little bit and he does the same and then "takes off..." needless to say i push on 2nd to redline shift to 3rd and so on till my lead just keeps growing....
We show up at our friends house where we were going and hes like damn i thought for sure i would keep up with you... we both have 2.5 liter motors and i have a huge weight advantage... (a stock wrx weighs like 250 pounds less than my car give or take some.. so i figure his is around there) and he thinks that since i have 6 cylinders and he has 4 he would have more displacement per cylinder and still be faster.... man some kids haha
Sorry for the really weird story i should have waiting till 2moro to post this today was probably the longest day ever! haha

umm I disagree... saw a video of a STI vs a Turbo M Roadster and the roadster destroyed it so bad on the freeway that the camera man in the STI was laughing... this was just one case but I don't think an STI eats anything as bad as you say. Pop a turbo into anything and it'll be fast. So go back to your Subaru forum now. Thank you, bye bye.
Almost forgot... my mechanic's dinan turbo e30 spanked my friends Mark STI in all rolling starts and from launch. I wouldn't call it a spank, but he beat him for sure every race. So go run your mouth else where. Don't get me wrong man, STI's are badass machines man and I have tons of respect for them. Problem is anyone can take any car, especially a car that is 100hp less stock and add forced induction and then walk all over your car. So you need to stop running your mouth and just enjoy your car.
Also a stock e46 m3 will beat your car on a track. A new stock m5/m6 will own your car on any format of racing I'd be willing to bed. 200 more horses is just something you can compete with :P Too much power all the time.

Agreed. Seriously, I hate it when my brother, like probably every Subaru STi owner thinks, thinks that their car "stock" is faster than every car in the street "stock."
Okay, yeah, it's stock in the sense that there are no aftermarket parts. But that thing is VERY dependent on the turbo. You take that silly 4 cylinder and race it against ANY of our m3/5/roadster or z4 that has a turbo, and it will spank you like a doctor on a newborn baby. Silly little turbolaggers. I'm sick of that shite. Come back to me in 200000 miles, and we'll see who has the better car - oh, wait, what do you mean you blew your engine?

Look, wrx and sti's are really fucking fast. For between 20k - 30k stock you can get a car that can hang with an e46 m3 (sti's can at least). If you're talking bang for your buck performance-wise the sti is a MUCH better deal. If you spend 50-60k (cost of a new m3) on mods for an sti you'll have a lambo-killer.
But you're all missing the point. It's not straight performance that draws us to bimmers, its the mix of luxury, style and performance. If everyone wanted as much performance for the cheapest price possible everyone would be driving sti's and evo's...
New corvette can beat a 911, but i'd go 911. The evo fq can beat lambo's but I'll take a lambo any day. There is a dodge viper right now (can't think of the name) that has 1100 hp and can go 0-60 in under 3 seconds. But I'd still take an enzo over it!
Going 0-60 0.3 seconds slower is a small sacrifice for having a B-M-W.
