I was up north today (at an unemployment meeting hahaha) and as I was coming out of the parking lot, a black e46 m3 in all it's glory. It was beautiful let me tell you. So I'm coasting behind him for a couple of miles down a side street which eventually leads onto the freeway (kind of goes through the ghetto along the freeway). Finally, a light! So I come up next to him and I have my windows down, and I look over at him and give him that "holy shit your car fucking rocks." to my surprise, he yells to me "I love your e36, nice work you've done to it!" I'm LIKE HOLY SHIT! Of course I respond with "Well I'd rather have your car any day!" and I smiled. So the light turns green, and we start out slow, he looks over to me and points forward, so I jump it and pull about 2-3 car lenghts ahead (he wasn't pushing hard). I KNOW he's going to slam it hard any second and sure enough I hear "Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaa!" And then "vroooommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!" I was doing about 90mph (letting off the gas) down this straight road, he must have blown buy me at about 130+mph. So we come to the next light, and he says seriously "shit your e36 has got some balls!." I just laughed and said "uh huh, sure." So he ends up pulling into a gas station just before the freeway onramp and I follow. We get to talking a bit and he ends up taking me for a ride in his M3. We went for about 20 minutes and let me tell you, that thing has just got so much smooth power that it was incredible. I was like a little kid let me tell you. So as it turns out, he's a kick ass guy obviously and I got his number. We're going to go out and go to the races this friday night together. I wish I had my camera on me!!!!! He told me he's planning on adding an AA Tuning Turbo by the summer. He just moved here from Seattle too so he was looking for some people to hang out with.
I know I can hang with or even beat some e36 m3's, but there was NOOO way in hell an e36 m3 would be able to hang with that e46 m3. I was so impressed let me tell you. Blew away my expectation's of that car. So I'll be sure to get some video of his car and mine together sometime. Was so much fun today :P I'm still smiling!

Its a shame that BMW is goin to get rid of the inline 6 in the new M3. The current inline 6 in the e46 M3 is a work of art, quite possibly one of the best N/a inline sixes ever made..u are one lucky man

Black 4 door 1990 325i
15"x7.5 Ronal LS-wrapped in 205/50-15 Bridgestone Potenza G009
especially since the highly tuned inline 6 has been a BMW tradition for god knows how long. the CSL really kicked it off. However,a V-8 can't be all that bad.

True that. One of the reasons I love BMW is their efficiency (like Honda). Their ability to crank every available drop of power from something like that; NA, is incredible. I love everything from their i4-s to their i6's... and even I admit the 5.0L v10 (because it makes the magic number).
I think it's sad that BMW has to resort to such sell out tactics to keep up with the competition (Why would your typical american want a v6 if he can get a v8-v12? Not even bothering with horsepower number, this is the selling point to the vast populace). At the same time, Hippy, it excites me too to wonder what BMW can make of a v8. Although this will earmark the e46 for a long time to come in history as the last i6 monster imo. Althuogh the e46 with it's CSL and GTR versions already has it made... Hell, as an ///m it's already had it made.
however, this could mean that prices on spare S54 engines will go down. engine swaps for all!
