Now THAT is an example of world class stupidity! And - cops these days have VERY fast highway cars, so you'd better be driving a really fast modded car AND have a clear road to attempt such insanity. This is another example of the dangers of major speed on a public road, let alone in teh dark! Owch!

I was at a party a few years ago in CT and a cop there talked my ear off about the modded "Crown Vic's" they used there that had engines and suspension designed to deal with the newer exotics and how "you'd better be able to do more than 180 if you plan to run". Hey - cheesy as it sounds, unless you really are uber high tech like the NY-CA boys, AND stupid fast, you still can't outrun a radio (well, I guess you could insanely blow by the NEXT cop and have the whole State after you, etc but you get the idea for what it's worth.

Well I can tell you all the Ford options stink for the crown vics. I know the equipment manager for Stone Mountain GA PD and the chief of police of Sardis GA PD, and factory options aren't exactly geared for performance.

Same thing here in Washington State, WSP are going towards the Charger R/T, I think that car might be th new crown vic.

Agreed. The Charger R/T is a perfect fit American made cop car. Nathaniel, Russ and RPM Racing has tricked out such a Charger R/T for a customer. He had already had it supercharged, had vertical doors and sway bars put in, etc so it is quite fast. He also however, has a fire engine red one with DECALS he specifically ordered that say "SUPERCHARGED" on sideof the car in big letters! I have never seen a man so bent on getting tickets before. Hey, at least it's only the stickers that are RICE...

I have driven my buddy's unmarked police cruiser quite a bit. We took a trip to Savannah...it's nice not to have a speed limit, but it didn't feel safe enough to go over about 120 in.
Yes yes yes - sorry, sleep deprivation, of course it's a DODGE Charger. Funny how we never had any concerns even driving our BONE STOCK Bimmers at over 120!

I pointed this out to him. He didn't believe me...then I let him drive it on the interstate. Interesting to be in my bimmer with a cop in uniform at the wheel at 150+

yeah thoughs chargers are really popular around here. The Cops In EPA Got a bunch of Chargers. I see Chargers on the side of the highway all the time getting towed..... most the cars on the Least Reliable Cars list where made by Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep. Sebring Was the worst.......

Only thing weirder was when I bought tix to a Yankee-Red Sox ALCS game a few years ago from a friend's cousin who is a cop. I met him and 5 other uniformed officers under the highway near Yankee Stadium and gave this uniformed cop face value cash for a ticket. They were BBQ'ing and drinking bottled beer and offered me and my friend some. I never felt so safe, and so Weird, in teh South Bronx before...crazy stuff!
