I have an '03 Mustang GT convertible and I raced either what appeared to be an E36 M3 but may have been a 328is with an M3 conversion. Anywayz... I was driving on the highway (this was around 1am, so traffic was minimal) at about 110km/h (around 68mph for u Americans) and I pulled next to the BMW, the passenger was enticing me to race so I figured what the hell and we went from about 110km/h. The BMW pulled ahead of me immediately until about 150-160 km/h (about 100mph) when I caught up and began to pass. By 180km/h (about 112mph) I was ahead of it by 2-3 car lengths at which point I slowed down, we ran twice, about the same result each time. I also raced a similar E36 about a week ago and again the same but this time until 190km/h. I am still wondering whether it was an M3 or a 328is.. I'm thinking it was a 328 but not entirely sure, what do u guys think?

probably a 328. A m3 would have smoked you to the point where you couldn't have seen it if he wanted to. There was a supercharged ford lightning with 385 horses trying to race a m3 in a straight line on the free way and the lightning wasn't even close. And that same lightning would have beat your mustang badly. I've raced mustang gts in my 325i and I've smoked them in the quarter by a couple car lenghts. even if it was a 328i, I bet he wasn't really pushing it...
otherwise, nice looking car you have there...
btw, my dad owns a 2002 mustang gt just like yours and he'll be the first one to admit that his car isn't in the same class as mine
yeah definately a 328is. All of the M3's made in the last 15 years (at least) enjoy a 0-60 time in the mid to low 5 seconds, a mustang GT if I recall correctly doesn't quite get there that quickly, also the M3 has great acceleration beyond 60, however, I don't have the numbers handy right now so I won't quote you any, but we can definately pull up the numbers for you if you are interested.
A friend of mine got a Bullet (perhaps Billet?) edition 2003 (or 2002 don't remember) mustang, its a hard top, but it is a monster of a car. He's a great auto-x'er but he had a hell of a time keeping the back end inline. For those that aren't familiar, it is the same as the GT, just a few cosmetic differences, shorter springs, harder struts, and different exhaust set up all from the factory, and as per SCCA race rules, they run in the same stock class as the Mustang GT but enjoy the upgrades like the springs and the exhaust that you can't do with a GT, but only cost a little bit more.

Doesnt your stang have 260 Hp stock? I dont know if my 328 is as fast as my buddies stang GT. Hes got more torque. Interesting thought

ya the 390hp supercharged SVT Cobra is crap right? that's why it can easily run with an E46 M3 (in a straight line anyway I know the M3 will tear it apart on the track) but I agree with Hoppy what you said is just plain ignorance.

Just curious, but how will my car stand up to a 03 mustang with just an intake? My friend just bought one and he's urging me to race him, which I will, just haven't yet. I'm curious what to expect.

ok ford fanboys, this is where the ignorance remarks are gonna come back and slap you in the face. Correct me if i am incorrect, but the svt ford uses a SUPERCHARGED 5.0 litre or w/e engine that cranks out a pitiful 380 horses. An m3 with a little over 1/2 the displacement, non supercharged, puts out 333 hp. Embarrassing. Ford engineers are retards and anyone that thinks the mustang is good at all is retarded. an svt shitstain will not even get CLOSE to an m3 on the track, and if the m3 was supercharged.....
