on interstate 95 going back to school this celica gts with xenons in my rear mirror approched fast...he then changed lanes and past me at a relative high speed.
ok so 5 mins later, i arrive at my exit; it is an offramp to another interstate (I195). the gts was infront of me, and this suv was infront of the gts. the offramp was a one lane cloverleaf type deal. i was going about 40mph in 3rd gear...about 1-2 car lengths away from the celica. Right before the highway straightened, i floored it a bit to catch up with the celica. I believe the GTS felt challanged when I did it. So yeah it straightens, lanes changed to two, the gts was eagered to pass the suv in front. So he quickly changed to the right lane. Right when he did so, the suv changed to the right lane. The gts immediatly changed back to the left. I was just chillin watching this GTS changing back and forth. I changed to 2nd gear, at around 4-5rpms..gettin ready.
At this time, i was a bit worried; its a GTS, more HP than me and its lighter than my hefty 323ci. But thinking the GruppeM Intake I got; its probably the same HP numbers as the GTS. Also, ive been told the GTSs are quick...that just got me worried a bit more.
So the GTS is in the left lane with clear roads ahead. He floors it. I went full throttle as well in 2nd gear at high rpms. Pulled to his rear bumper like nothing....i had to stop the throttle cuz if i kept on going, i would hit him. So im here pumping the gas....finally we both passed the suv, he changes to the right lane and immediatly, i floored it. I kept pulling and pulling and pulling. Into 3rd I go....still kept pulling and pulling. *Im not pulling real fast...it took a good few seconds to actually pass the GTS. It wasnt super fast passing him, but it was very constant; not once did the GTS start to gain)
So i stopped at about 95mph....i was 10+ car lengths. I did not know when he stopped trying but that was how far ahead i was.
Since ppl say they are quick, imo it may be a GTS auto. But hey, i beat a celica GTS
I got less power, more weight and i beat it
Im pretty sure tho my advantage was the torque numbers. I have signicantly more torque than it.
