I was out [media] pimpin on my way to get some GREAT ice cream (mmm)....windows are down, sunroof open, system bumpin, crusing in the right lane when i see someone jump into the left and and approaching fast...i immedialty straigtened my back (up from the pimpin position)...and tried to get a closer look in my mirror. I couldn't make out the car, it eventually got right next to me and its a brand new red evo lancer...i was like whoa! i had just read in MT how kick ass their handling is (better slalom speed then ferrari/lambo) and their acceleration from a dead stop to 60 is slighty better then mine (thanks to AWD)....but i closed my sunroof, and rolled my windows up (DRAG!) well we did race, i got about 2-3 car lengths on him to about 100mph, but at the next stoplight i rolled down my window and said nice car to the guy and he said "you have a m3, and i dont even have cruise control"
the race really wasnt important, but i was shocked as hell to see the car, #1, but to also hear a comment like that....we exchanged a few more words before the light turned green, and i let him in front of me and we cruised till i got to my ice cream place....
cool, so a diamond star still has nothing on the ///M.

Only two things matter in life, The Bema, and The Bimmer.
but one sweet as driving car...0-60 in 4.57 seconds, runs a 600ft slalom FASTER then the lambo, ferrari, viper....for under $30k....its a very aggressive looking car from the front.....
nah the latest motor trend had SOME of the best speed demons from different companys (no porsches, no bimmers)....and it outhandled the 575m, the murciealgo, and the new viper....but the awd got it from 0-60 in a scant 4.57...amazing! though if i had awd, id lay down some serious pwnage!
It still has major understeer problems due to transienaxel (sp) mounting. Even though its AWD its still FWD powered. My friend has an eagle talon that i work on. Ill explain later if anyone actually cares. nice story though

The Evo is actually a rear biased AWD system, like the WRX. It does have a transversely mounted motor, but that actually helps keep the mass of the engine behind the front wheels. I believe the Evo has better grip, but without the Active Center Differential (the Evo AWD system uses 3 differentials) the US spec Evo will understeer quite a bit more than the euro and japanese spec. It probably outhandled the exotics because it's smaller. Put it up against an elise, it'll get spanked.

How can you have a rear based system when you have a transversly mounted engine? Everything will still be based off the front transmission. I havnt looked at any spec sheets or anything but if they are still doing it like DSM used to then the center diff gives most of the power to the front wheels because the center diff is integral in the transmission (sends power to front wheels) then splits to the transfer case which sends it to the rear.
