Ok, not sure if this is where this should be posted, but what the heck.

Plenty talk flying around about racing this/that, burnouts, laying rubber, etc. How about posting your launching strategy?

Me? I don't have one. Haven't really tried in the BMW. I used to rev up to ~3 grand in the Teg and pop the clutch, this didn't always work for me however. I've never peeled rubber, don't really know how, kinda afraid to try. What about E-Brake moves? Anyone got them?

Well... kinda ironic cause i just left 10 feet of BLACK BLACK rubber in the schools parking lot. And i have only done a burn out twice before. Reved up to 5k and dropped the clutch. Hrmm now that i think about it... i did a burn out 2 days ago... i was racing my friend in his f150, he had 8 peolple in it and a couch in the back so they could watch me do my stunts. Goin in 3rd, opend the clutch, revved to 5 1/2 put to 2nd and dropped the clutch going about 40... shit that was the coolest 4 second "chirp" ive ever heard. deffinately cool... ill get a video of me doing it sometime again.

Anyway for launching, i rev up to about 2, then right before i go i release the gas and let it spin down and then i feather the clutch out at about 1 1/2 and right as i feel it contact i increase gas near to floor at the same rate i release the clutch so it allows it to upspin as im accelerating. Most people i tell, say ohh you should rev up to launch bla bla, but i can garuntee that my way works jsut as well and hooks up right away with no spinnage ever.

And i usually dont race, i like to just do lateral burnouts. aka torque donuts. I have some video of it around somewhere... really nice circles with lots of smoke.

rev your car up to about 5 and dump the clutch you should get a nice smoky burnout gd...or you can rev up and hold the clutch at the point where the tires will keep spinning...thats fun too...and you just found out a new way to add like 20k miles of wear to your clutch

racing starts....... hmmmm ! this is why i need a new clutch!

i've found that if i'm going to do a racing start in the dry the best way is not to over rev.....

.......if i put on too many revs the clutch will slip big time as the tyres have so much grip.
resulting in a crap start and a burnt out clutch.....

i find its best to give about 3 grand on the revs and then when its pulled off punch it to just before the red line and go for it........

if its wet and you want to show off, i will give it a little more revs than in the dry and snatch the clutch...... then while its spinning ease off a little to keep it off the limiter so it pulls away but still spins, then as the speed picks up change gear and repeat, if done correctly you can get it to spin all the way up to third gear anround about 65mph...... lots of smoke!

doughnuts.....

pull off at a medium speed and then turn, once its starting to turn then punch it........ if done right the arse end will come around, what you then need to do is play the throttle and keep it spinning..... and as the back end comes all the way around the steering will start to turn the other way..... once on full lock, it should spin on the spot.....
(ie: if you started to turn right, and the back come around to the rear left, and as you correct the steering with a full left hand lock the car will spin on the front left tyre/wheel)

.......it basically the same as when the back end steps out in the wet on a corner.....
best thing to do is find a large wet car park and practice......

drifting.....
same as a doughnut but instead of going all the way round you hold it on the throttle and then straighten it out...... same again practice make perfect......

once you have mastered the technique of drifting in public, there is a large respect given for this art..... but only when its done perfect.....

have fun and enjoy.....
but remember to use your better judgement as to where you perform..... (not infront of schools and stuff!)

i shall have to get some video of me doing some side way action........

pftt... just do reverse donuts in your car... if anything they are easier because its RWD the front just whips around. Shit i put in enough practice so i can drive backwards to about 20 mph then whip the front in stick it in 1st and feather the clutch out and do a perfect 180 never dropping in speed.
