Soi was driving down HWY 26 here in portland yesterday and came up next to a Evo MR. the guy kinda looked over and smiled and gave his engine a little rev. now knowing full well that an evo will kill me in my stock M3 its playing around for fun. so we get on it and he pulls on me like i'm standing still... DAMN. then black and then white smoke pour out of his car and mine gets showered with broken parts and smoke and oil... AWESOME... i kept going so technically... I won.. ha ha and that sucks...

Evo's might be fast and all, but they're not as well put together as an M3. Also, Evo's are high maintainence - they need servicing every 5k miles - that sucks
okay so just washed the m3 really well and i do have one new scratch but that could have been gravel from the mtn pass last week. and yeah it was only oil not like tranny or brake fluid. those do real damage to paint. i kinda felt bad, but... MEH... His loss. MY win. ouch!

dont lump all japanese manufacturers in that group. mitsubishi is the crappiest built out of all of the big jap ones. youd never see that happen with a supra or 350z.

Engaging launch control should have taken care of the evo,what is the M3 manuel or smg?Over here most evos are driven by slack jawed wannabee walter rohls,who are incapable of getting the best from the car.You should have been capable of seeing him off in an M3.

Sorry, my bad. Yeah some Jap cars are pretty good. I also heard somewhere that Lexus has the best build quality - even better than BMW. Also, Honda VTEC engines FTW.

your main theory is shot, because when BMW went to the S54 they got mechanical lifters which are superior but require very regular maintenance to adjust them..so bmw is crap too based on maintenance?
the Evo is a well built machine, i find this hard to believe but there are a lot of bad owners out there who abuse the shit out of their cars, if you said it was a WRX i would be more inclined to believe it as they have a habbit of exploding transmissions

ahh see now your credibility is shot too lol... Vtec and Vanos and other variable cam timing units are for fuel efficiency, and low end TQ, which does nothing in a race.
as far as the best built "jap car" no one will surpass toyota...hands down

Just saw a Lexus broken down on the side of the road today...never seen that before. Blown radiator.
A guy I work with blew a rad a couple of days ago. The only thing is that it was a Ford rental truck, and the reason the rad blew is because he hit a very large crow at 110kph...messy, there was coolant and bird guts all over the place!
