I have a new gen Mustang gt and was curious how it stacks up against the new gen BMW's. Me 5.1-13.6 blah blah. Steeda suspension goodies (1 1/4 drop) and 275/40/18 Michelin Pilots on all 4 corners. I purchased mine for the looks hence the custom paint and Roush chrome rims and 91 hand coats of polish/wax/paint cleaner. I love to wax so much I polished/waxed the neighbours 328 (she is cute)

I would say a good match would be the 330i. Similar hp/trq numbers i think.

My boss has the new Saleen Mustang and he can't keep it on the road. ie. it stacks up just fine on the auto rack in the shop. Huge issues, and it this point he's joining a class action suite lemon law vs Saleen/Ford to get his money back.
He says my E39 M5 would eat his Saleen for lunch as every time he hits the gas something breaks.

I did a little digging and found a bimmer with similar numbers. The 335i has 300/300 whilst mine runs 300/320. Mind you I would love to add a twin turbo and have numbers closer to 700/700

While those numbers are very similiar, I think the 335i would too much for the GT to handle. Call me biased but, I think Bmw's in general have an unusual talent for running down and/or keeping up with cars that have a good amount more hp and trq numbers. An example would be the e46 M3 vs the Cobra svt. The cobra usually beats the M3 in a straight line, but given the difference in engine size and hp/trq #'s, it doesn't get beat that bad. imho

All good points I know I am comparing apples to oranges but give me the extra 17,000.00 Cdn (GT-335i) and I have a world beater ie blower 9000.00, Ford racing suspension 2300.00, rims and tires 4000.00 ah I only need 15,300.00

Ok I am in Texas(Ft. Hood area) there are alot of the new gen mustangs running around. I see them all day at the track I like to go to and the fast near stock GT I have seen has only been in the low to mid 14s. My E36(MY95) M3 has a regular dite of these and I know I'm not anywhere near the 300/300 wheel numbers. Anyway they are a sharp car though just think Ford should put them on a dite.

Same here man. With an extra $17,000 I could turn a 335i into an almost pure race/track car that could probably run 10's all day every day.

Hey, I've got a new, in the box drop-in K&N for the new Mustangs. Bought one for my Dad's new 'Stang for Christmas and then he went and sold it one me. It's just been sitting here since then. Interested?

His point was that the 335i costs $17,000 more than the Mustang; therefore, if he put that much money into the Stang, then the BMW would be nowhere near the performance of the Ford.

I see what you're saying, but the orignal point was comparing a stock mustang to a stock 335i. And in that aspect the 335 would kill the stang. So if you are going to throw $17,000 at a stock mustang then it's only fair to throw $17,000 at the 335i. point being if you spend the same amount on each car the 335 will have the better performance.

Well, there you are mistaken. The 335i only has the Stang by a couple seconds in the quarter, so I wouldn't say it would "kill" the Stang. Give them both a tune and they are easily in the 12's. It basically becomes a driver's race and seeing who can get better traction.
The sad part is that the Mustang does this all naturally aspirated while the BMW needs two turbos to get to this level.

Nope, you are wrong again. Even throwing the same money at each will not help the BMW.
You said earlier that that $17,000 would put the 335i in the 10.s.... well, that same amount of money would put the Mustang WELL into the 9's. The BMW will always lose the advantage when the modification war begins. It's a lot cheaper to get a larger motor to go faster and the BMW parts are so much more expensive.
