Ok, so a couple of days ago I was at a stop sign. Just as I was starting to pull out, some guy rear-ends me. I'm already late for an appointment so I'm thinking, 'Are you shitting me?" We both pull over, get out, and assess the damage. I'm being really nice to the guy (who turns out to be around 50-60 years old) because I figured that I would feel horrible if I did that and someone yelling at me wouldn't make it any better. I tell him to go get his insurance info and I'll get mine. I go to get mine and the douchebag gets in his car and drives away...waving to me!!! WTF???? I got his license plate and filed a police report. I gave the police all the info about the car and what the guy looked like. The cop runs his license plate and finds out who he his and where he lives but says he has no phone number so he can't do anything. WTF???? Get your lazy ass over to his house!! Anyway, basically, it's a hit and run. There were no witnesses. It's my word against his. What can I do?

I also meant to put in there that there's not that much damage, probably a couple hundred worth. I'm getting an estimate tomorrow. Still, that's a couple hundred dollars that should be coming out of this guy's wallet, not mine.

That's balls dude. I would think that the cop would still have to get in touch with him even without a phone number. And as long as the old guy hasn't fixed his front in, it will be obvious that he hit you...your paint on his, his on yours. So, I wouldn't worry too much. Sorry to hear it though.

haha, i would, but unfortunately this guy lives in the worst part of reading, pa, which has one of the highest crime rates in the country. and I'm just a little white girl who would get shot just walking in that neighborhood haha

UPDATE: my insurance agent called the cop and bitched him out. she told him that she was going to file a complaint if he didnt do something. so now he's going to send the guy a letter. he has threee days to respond. if he doesnt, hes in trouble. they're gonna make him pay me or a fine. the estimate for my car was only about two hundred so i don't care if i have to pay for it as long as the asshole gets what he deserves. thanks for the sympathy guys!

good thing your car doesn't have too much damage otherwise this whole ordeal would be much worse. It sucks there are asses out there that care to actually wave to you as they leave the scene of an accident. I hope you get the money out of the guy, you should also figure out some arrangement where you can have a few moments alone at the police station with the guy to "talk some sense" into him a little bit for your trouble.

P.S. Watch out saying you are a "little white girl" around here too much or you will get hounded by tons of computer hugging horny teens. unless you want to be hounded by them of course. just my 2 cents.

Since the area has highest crime rates, just add one to the total. Go kill the bastard. I swear if someone tried to run I would catch up to them one way or another, drag them out the window and beat them to death...

yah that is always option number one. everything else like getting cops involved comes after that.

Hey, there right, you'r lucky it wasn't a bad wreck, here are some of the pics of my wreck.

And a little intro to them. One morning, on my way to school (mechanic class too) at 6:40 am, I leave our street, trun left, probably doing like 30mph, minding my own bis, on the street

, pass the 1st intersection, and out of nowhere, this crazy lady doesn't stop at her stop sign hitting my coming very fast towards my car from the passenger side, my first reaction, turn the wheel to the left and braked, trying to dodge the wreck, but even with all my effort, the crazy lady hits me doing around 40-50mphs. both of my airbags blow up, I put my left arm in front of mine trying to protect my face, (got nerved damage on my left shoulder bcs of that now). Well, the lady never saw me going by what she said.

used Now my car had a custom exhaust with flowmasters (akak loud). Crazy bass (even more loud), xenon lights (bright), underbody L.E.D's (even more bright) and was white. Now how in the heck could she not have seen me. Well, after aa while, her inssurance company agreed that it was her fault, the lady totaled my car + had to pay for it, totalled her sister's car (the one she was driving) and had to pay for it, + she had to pay for my medical bills. AND she got a ticket from the cop bcs she didn't stop at the stop sign and wasn't carrying her license with her at the time.
