Before i tell about the race i want everyone to know that i don't drive a BMW, but have great respect for them and would love to own one some day. (In other words, don't flame me for what i'm about to tell)
The other week my step brother and i were driving down broadway in Yankton, SD and we say a sharp 2-door coupe a couple blocks up, so after my brother's egging on i sped up to catch it and see if i could get a race. well we pull up to a red light with him and it was a charcoal '04 Z4. I threw it in neutral and gave a rev.The guy looked over at me like i was stupid or something probally thinking "what is this 4-door car doing revving at me?!" Well he nodded back and when the light turned green we both hammered it. He took me out of the hole by a good 1/2 car length but when i hooked up i pulled on him pretty hard and by 80mph i we shut down since i was ahead by almost 2-2 1/2 car lengths. We stopped at the next red light and talked to him. He was a pretty cool guy and said he almost couldn't believe he got beat that bad. He said his car had a 3.0 DOHC w/ the manual. How fast are these cars stock?and what are they rated at for Horsepower? I actually have raced a couple BMW's before but that was when i was stock (i got wasted). i was just curious.

1998 Grand Prix GTP(4- door)
3.25” SC pulley, 3” dual Magnaflow exhaust, no“u-bend” or resonator, Thrasher CAI, custom DHP PCM, Autolite 104 spark plugs, 24000 GVW Trans. Cooler, synthetic motor and trans. fluid
Best ¼ : 13.641@ 103.2 mph

The 3.0 Z4 is rated at 225 HP, 214 TQ.

In the 8/03 issue, Car and Driver tested a manual 3.0 Z4 in a comparison test. They got a 0-60 time of 5.3, 1/4 mile in 14 flat. However, I'd assume the guy you raced probably couldn't get those numbers out of his car.

Good win
