Ok I live around Chicago. I was crusing with my girlfriend and her best friend in my '92 525i. It was around 2:00 A.M. and we decided to go for a drive on I-290 East (Bad decision #1). I'm weaving through light traffic at about 100 m.p.h. We rool up next to an Evo. My girl's best friend says "Oh my God, he's hot as hell." I look over at this guy. I was like ok lets see if he can drive that thing. So I bounce a couple of times (Bad Decision #2) and he bites. We race down I-290 at well over 100 m.p.h. and I smoke him as we enter the city (Bye,Bye hot guy). I'm crusing Lake Shore Drive bouncing off 115 and 120 m.p.h. shifting every time the bass hits on my new M.J.B. cd. I finally get to the end of L.S.D. and make the return trip back the way I came. When out of nowhere an Evo flies by me, fart-can screaming . Ok Round two. We run down L.S.D., I blow by him at 125 m.p.h. and at 130 m.p.h. I finally hit my limit. The govener/fuel cutoff hits and I finally realize why they call BMW's the Ultimate Driving Machine. Bad decision #3 come when I get back onto I-290 West and see the overhead sign that says 15 min to Wolf road. I look at my girl and she says "I bet we can beat it, In fact I know you can beat it." Mind you I haven't heard a word from her friend in the back, she is still pissed that I didn't let her get this guy's number. I'am flirting with that fine line of 130 m.p.h. when I come apon a black Crown Vic. I slow, looking for the infamous M on the plate, no M, now i look for the lights, no lights, now I look for the spot light on the drivers side, no light. I make direct eye contact with a man that hasn't shaved for days and is wearing crappy work clothes. I do all this while I pass him at about 80 m.p.h. I get to the 25th Street exit and get light up. It's a marked State Trooper. I pull over and get written three tickets. #1 for improper lane change (No turn Signals) #2 Wreckless Driving #3 speeding-Doing 115 in a 55 zone.
The cop told me that the only reason he didn't tow my car or arrest me on the spot is because I have two beautiful girls in the car that need to get home. It is now 3:30 A.M. I am driving back home doing the exact speed limit. I got 80 hours comunoty service and a $400 fine. Two weeks after I this ordeal i wrecked that car. I got rear ended in a rain storm and slid into a tree.
I am now the proud owner of an E39 528i and a K40 radar.
Moral is don't be a complete dumbass like I was and pull stupid shit that could ruin your life and the lives of the people you love.
Hope you enjoy the story. Got a party to go to at N.I.U. . LATER

1. A 525i will not beat a Evo at anything... turns/straight/from a stop/from a roll -- A M3 won't beat them... unless your car was supercharged or something of that nature, you are lying.

2. Wreckless = driving without, well, wrecking/having a accident.
Reckless (what you are trying to say) = driving like a moron

3. Good job on putting innocent people in danger.

4. Radar detector is just a false sense of security. All cops that have at least 1 brain cell don't drive around with their radar on.

Whoa! When did I say I beat him. By smoked him I mean that I was frist to enter the city. I don't know if he was really pushing it, but I know that i was ahead of him. OK jump on me for spelling a word wrong. Yes I did put an innocent person in danger (Her friend). My girlfriend races on her own all the time.I have grown up alot since then. The cop that pulled me over also told me that there was a Trooper on every on ramp calling me in because they couldn't catch up to me. So in that case the radar dectector would have worked.
I thought this would be a nice driving tale to share. Ease up a bit. I told this so others don't screw up like i did.

Yeah, then you 'smoked' a car that wasn't even trying. Great job.

And no, the radar detector still wouldn't have helped you -- a radio scanner would have.

It probably would have gone up considerably if the story didn't reek of BS.

My insurance stayed the same. The deal my lawyer got with the D.A. involved none of the violations on my record with the state. The violations are on record with the county though.
I believe the Evo tried but gave up. Probably because he realized that it was stupud to be going that fast. I wish I had realized that. How would a radar detector not have helped, if all the cops had their guns on and were shooting people ahead of me? This story is no BS. I have the tickets and the court papers to prove my actions and my community service. The point of the story was not to brag about "beating" an Evo. it was so that others don't make the same mistakes I did.

You're lucky .. my insurance wanted to double my quote just for a 15 over ticket .. don't wanna think about what it would cost if I did what you did

police scanner would have saved you, maybe.. since the cops were obviously on the radio warning each other that you were comming.

radar jammer doesnt help when you are going twice the speed limit... i think the cop, just maybe, maybe, could be able to tell you are speeding.

then you get busted for using a radar jammer, and felony speeding.

schaweet.
