So first off, id like to say that i have had so many freaking canyon stories and races that i could share, but my god, its almost as common as me going to school, so just a quicky to let you know...i still havent lost a canyon race yet.. except against this guy(trigger knows) that is a pro-kart instructor and has a SICK Evo and really knows how to push it, and thats the only one so far.

so without further adew, i thought id share this story with you because i thought it was awesome.

I was waiting to make a left to go onto a freeway, and right next to me was a new 760i, the guy was a normal 45 or so year old guy, seemed pretty chill. i didnt actually intend to race him, i reached down on the ground cuz i dropped my phone, and accidentally(lol, im serious) hit the gas pedal and the engine revved to liek 5k....hahah

i looked over like "i am such an idiot, i know your car will own mine"

he smiled and revved back with his HUGE V12 6.0L engine...
We toook off, he freaking killed me but he was cruising at about 115 of the freeway, i approached him at 124ish...

he looked over and smiled then he just floored it and just TOOK OFF...my god..So we both got off at the same exit(ironically) and he was next to me at the light, he rolled down his window and says "jesus you have some ballls to go that fast in a wagon" i laughed and said "yeah well....i used to have a BMW" "thats good to hear" then he gave me a thumbs up and just blew away at the light and went left, and i went slow to the right in my crappy 130whp saab..lol.

good times

-dan

Good times indeed. Monster engine indeed.
I didn't know you demoted yourself to a Saab?!?!? I'm so sorry...
That physically pains me.
We need to start you a "Let's get Dan back with the BMW plan" fund.

165hp to the fly, 130hp to the wheels, at 120mph(where the speedo tops out at), my 5th gear is around 5100 rpm's, and it is limited to 6200.. so i can do about 128 i bet if i pushed it.

if i had a choice, id gear my car to top out at 100, so that my acceleartion would be better.

I would follow that plan as well - not too many places to realistically go 100+ when not on a course.

2.5 liter engine and it's put out 165 hp ? Just goes to show you how superior BMW is to other makes... my m20 which was first introduced in '77 puts out 3 hp more than that.

Like holy shit.

But what year was it? What Torque is pointing out is that the car had just as much HP... 30 years ago.
