EVO 4

hey everyone, just updateing on how the EVO 4 is goin that I was talkin about in my previous post's, we have got up to about 15 pound out of the stock setup, can do more but could do damage to the engine for a everyday drive car, we have a pretty good blow off valve setup to stop major lag but unfortuantly theres still heaps of it!!, so anyway we took it to town the other day (we both live in the wop wop's) and on the way back at night we thought that we would do a 0-100 (km'h) time now we both read somewhere that it you launch a EVO4 at 5000rpm youll get off to a start of about 60ft a second!! I don't care if you have the fastes car in the world that is F@#%in fast!! we dropped the cluch at about 2500rpm because we wern't trieng to set land speed records and to my amazment the clutch was slipping very very seriously like for about a second before it took off and done the 0-100 in just under 7 seconds ok thats not that fast but when we stopped just after wouds "so I could take a piss" the clutch smelled like it was on fire!! this is supposed to be a racing clutch whit a close ratio gearbox, n, so after that little eposoid I told him to save his clutch and we will do a 0-400m another night!! so thats still to come, I woundered then how fast my car is 0-100 in my jelous state I tokk my car down to the bottom of the road yesterday" dunno if you guys know this but I still have 2 months to go till I get my licesce bac" and started to do some times wit my bro, first is in D wit traction control, - 7.5 not bad I didn't think but the traction control was goin crazy at first so I decided to start in the maual mode wit out traction control, - just a tade over 6 like 6.4 or somthin that was with a stop watch not timing device so I recon just under 7 which I was very impressed with espessially because the guy who has the EVO is so anti BMW its not funny now I think he respects it as a born thourhobread!! and is a little hesitate when it comes to noking the bma.
when he does a 6 I'll wipp out and say My dads 85 911 can do it in just over 5 and its 11 years older :lol:

I never knew the Evo 4 was so slow... plus sounds like that clutch is about to go south completely.

As for some of my 0-100 km/h times -- my best guess is anywhere from 8.5 to 9.3 seconds.

So yall have done all that to the Evo4 and it's still that slow?? Sounds like a waste of money to me especailly at 15 psi.

How slow was it before yall did anything to it?

Times with a stopwatch suck lol. I had some kid with a 240 completely stock engine drivetrain etc tell me he did like a 6.2 0-60 or something and I was like "nice" and I wanted to say so bad "yeah, it's easy to get good times when you're working the stopwatch yourself" but I don't feel like making enemies and getting my car f-ed up.

Evo 4 costs that much to be so slow... A stock 90s DSM will run mid 6 0-60s all day long without burning up the clutch.

Isnt the Evo 4 AWD???

if so then the clutch is supposed to slip when you drop it hard. otherwise you will drop your tranny cuz it has to work too hard to turn the wheels.

thats why those guys mess everything up at the races because they try to help themselves out by getting the starting line wet so they can take off faster.

if they are not the AWD car im thinking of, please disregard. i really dont follow that stuff.

yea they are AWD, we went for a rark 2day and we can still only get 7.2 seconds 0-100 and we tried several times, I'am starting to get a bit more cocky saying that my car can whip your ass, espeacially when it comes down to corners!!.
this fella is totally against any european car doesn't matter what it is!! he's real race! 2day my old man was following us for a bit in his 911, when kris floored it looked back and the 911 was 10 car lengths bac atleast, he began to tell me how shit porsches was compared to his cheap racy car!!!
he then after a bit droped to third and unleashed the 280hp right to the revlimiter and snapped it to 4th and looked bac to see if my dad was still in sight to discover he was almost touching his bumper, I then proceeded to tell kris that you had a 10-12 car head start buddy what happened??? his next words were "Fuck that cars fast " he he he, I love it when that happens!!

I have taught him respect for porcshes, I can't wait to get my licesen bac so that I can show him what the Bma can do cause he still thinks his peace of shit looks better even if mine would win in a race, hes goin down!!!!

I get it bac in 3 weeks so I keep you posted in what happened!

BTW, all you racy bastard's out there if a 96 resonably moded evo 4 can't beat a 85 911 with that much spent on it then you should seriously think about why you are wasting your money? when you can buy a nice BMW for probaly as cheap as a reasonably priced mitsi, and get twice the enjoyment out of it!!.

Um, just a thought. Are you sure that your buddy doesn't just have a Lancer ES and that he is not just BSing you on how it's a Evo ?

Those times seem terribly slow for even a stock Evo.

Hmm..Yea I agree...I know of a guy that has an EVO and he said it would whoop my 328is..easy...claims he took a viper off the line but once the Vipe got rollen it over...and I have some other friends that have seen it and they say it will run...also I know a lady that has a Lancer and they look alike....so I would check...but then again my friend could be full of crap too....

and it is a 4 cause I went and picked it up from the dearler wit him, and when you look in the engine bay it deffnatly looks like a evo motor to me!!, (I do know a bit about these motors), but even by winding the boost nob up we still can't get anymore out of it?

na but all seriosly if he was actually a good driver I know he could beat me EASY!! but he thinks he is so why tell him that he isn't!

its not like hes that bad that he can't still race its just he doesn't know how to take corners or do like a super super quick gear change! when he tryed to pull from my old man, it was all the car though there wouldn't be anything better anyone could have done but push the throttle through the floor at light speeeeed to get that extra millisecond of power to the weels!.

recapping as abouve these cars are slower than a normal 2 litre until the turbo kicks in!! and if u in the wrong gear u wasted. hmmmm maybe I need a VANOS controller

ok so it finally happaned!! the BMW 328is MTEC "auto" went up against the EVO 4!! after a full weekend of fun in the evo we decided to go bac to my house get the bmw and go for a fly "I am a pilot" so I bac the car out and warm the beast up its been so long since I have driven it I kinda felt like I was getting into a new car! I think I should tell you at this point that I stuck a new boost controller in the evo and we can get it to 24poundage of thrust but it starts fuel cutting at around 21 so we maxed it at 18 for durability until he can afford a bigger fuel pump so with all thes mods the car MUST be putting out damn near 300hp if not a little more thats at the flyweel of coarse, My car is stock except the "race suspension setup" other that that the motor is completly stock as it came from the factory but it is a M so I think its putting around that 200hp out! so down to the race the little fag took off before I was even ready so he absoultly burt me by about 2-3 car lenghts but when I hit high second second I caught up with relative ease we stuck to the speed limit cause there where people flashing there lights "usually means theres cops around" but MR ESCORT didn't think so!! so the evo down shifted into third I could hear the 3 1/2 inch exaust come to life I knew he would try to pull away so I to selected 3 and waited for that sweet sound of power come from his car it came !!!!! and rather quickly I held my ground and stuck to his bumper he could pull like a ferrari but was just slowly inch by inch pulling I started to catch up when he changed to 4th I was on his bumper again we entered a fast right and corner at 160 and I have to say I for the first time could say I owned a EVO 4 like a little prison bitch I contiued to gather speed to sling shot me out of the corner I pulled right next to his door the straight was only about 200m long and there was a car coming even though I could have passed I didn't I pulled ba in and took the next fast corner to the left with another short straight I pulled out doin about 160-170km I was now in front and continued to pull as his car cuts out at 190km "jappa import!!"
proudest day of my life!! we then took things casually and went for our fly! he does however show some respect!!

No matter what, no Evo (japenese, american, euro or australian) should cut out at 190 km/h. That is roughly 118 mph and it's like 3k rpm in 4th gear for evo. are you sure your friend knows how to use his 4th and 5th gears ?

first off, it kinda sounds like your friend can't drive worth shit.

also, its possible that you guys are just putting the wrong mods on that car. you can put all the highest price parts on a car and if they are not intended to work toget, you will have no power at all. 3 1/2 inch exhaust is a little large for a 2 liter, even at that boost. usually 3 inch is plenty large enough. two large actually causes a loss of power.

one more thing....could you please learn to use some punctuation. it would really help reading your posts way easier. i don't know about over there, but in the states we learn that shit in like 1st grade. i think it is time to jump on the bandwagon.
