E36 M3 vs. Mitsubishi Evolution IX

I was headed westbound on I-66 outside of the DC beltway today to get to Dulles. I was in the left-most lane of four. I passed, on my immediate right, an Evo IX; I was doing 70, he 65 in this 55 zone. He was stuck behind a volvo. I blipped it a couple times as I passed, and he got the message. Looked like a high school kid driving with a friend. He quickly got around the volvo and matched me at 70. A head bob later and we did a run. I shut it down at 120, when to my surprise I was two car lengths in front of the evo.

Can you say "turbo lag?" I fully expected to get creamed.

Then back eastbound later on I got to play with a yellow Ferrari :-) I think it was a 360.

Lol yeah it was just cat and mouse, there was traffic. Although I would consider it a privilege to get owned by one of those.

An Evo would definetly win to 60, but they are not geared as high as an M3 probably is, so on the highway you should be able to take him. Also he must be a shitty driver to have turbo lag... downshif that fucker...
I say this becasue I love the evo and would like to get one after college. But after you hit about the upper 20's i want the class of the bimmer back.

LOL I have a hard time imagining anybody buying an Evo in automatic transmission. Is it even an option?

One of the previous gen Evos (either 6 or 7) came in auto. It was dubbed Evo GT-A.

How many did they sell???

I just don't understand getting a turbo in an automatic...how do you keep the revs high enough? Supercharger is a different story of course...

They made a total of 2000 of them (They were VII gen.). They weren't too fast, but not terribly slow either (60 in 5.5 and 1/4 in high 13s).

It's obvious in difference.

Do the evo 9's come in 6 speed? I was under the impression that the EVO 8 came only in 5 speed and the EVO 8 MR came in 6 speed. WRX in 5 speed and STi in 6 speed.
