Not too long ago, i just began to become knowledgable about this whole drfting thing. I thought to myself, seems like the thing asians would do, because they cant drive well at all, so why not make a sport of it? It started with rainy day ebrake slides going like 15mph around my cauldesack(sp?). It then grew to some 25 mph overpower skids through 90 degree turns. Now for some reason it seems i break those rear wheels loose when im doin somethin as simple as pulling up to my freinds house.(not dangerously, mind you) And it seems assinine when i stop and think, and im wrecking my new zittos... Who else here has the drift fever, and post ur fav. drift techniques so we can all try em...
When its raining I do a "feint" that leads into a "power" drift, thats a lotta fun to do. Also I use the shift lock to go one going if it's dry in conjunction with a fient. I don't have the balls to try a dynamic drift yet requires too high a speed.
when it's wet and there is a good 90ish degree turn, just give it some gas when in the middle of the turn.
ps. make sure there is enough space on the outside so you don't hit anything. I scarred the shit out of my friend the other night when I drifted through 2 lanes with traffic coming towards me.
My LSD works too effectively to get a drift without insane going pretty fast into the turn so I haven't really attempted anything like that around town. The car also doesn't have enough torque to step the back end without going pretty fast.
People are always like "yeah dude I saw rocks and a little smoke off the back wheels that was sweet" and I'm like, um I can't even notice anything inside the car, that's all the differential working it's magic.

I never do it when the road is all dry. That's just a waste of tires and plus it sends dirt and rocks everywhere which damages your paint and other people's cars.
It also takes a lot more power to drift when it's dry... is it even possible in a 525i ?
Torque, its COMPLETLEY possible, put the cars shift lock on, and pound it. Dont do it too long though, or you may end up in a tree. I STILL cant manage a decent burnout though (in my auto 525i)

I've got the fever, but not the equipment....
Open diff, automatic transmission, and a little 323 engine with worn out stock shocks.
I still can do a (HARD)feint + power over on 90 degree turns and get my ass out pritty far, considering my diff is an open one. I love doing it with passengers in the car, Makes me feel all smug and stuff.
"What button did you just pre AAAAAAHHH HOLY SHIT!!!" (I pressed ASC and manual shifting buttons)
My dad told me of a guy that works with him and he has a 525i auto as well. Here's how that idiot does a burnout...
You move off the line slowly allowing the car to shift to 2nd and then you floor all the way causing it to shift back into 1st at high rpm and burnout a little... i wouldn't recommend it though since it obviously beats up the tranny and the differential.

mate?
Any way, you better be able to drift with a X2X or more. I can do it in my car, granted it takes me trying a lot to do it, but it is completely doable, in 1st gear It is soooooo much fun doing a u-turn with the back lit up completely, scares the crap outta you, everyone in your car, and everyone that can see your car.

hahaha ya
ive done 2 180's on a couple 5 lane streets with no traffic
1 in super heavy rain, sooo fun.... if you let off the gas the fuckin car SNAPS back on track... soooo tight
and 1 time in super dry conditions with the e-brake, that is so fun... but everyone in the city can hear you
I have 318i and it does'nt have much power to do drifts during the summer, however in the winter I love my car, every corner is a drift for me. I have messed up once and ended up doing a 180 degree turn instead of 90 degree.
