I flew to LA (from Birmingham, AL) last week and picked up a 98' M3. During my 2200 mile cruise I found myself in the middle of the California desert. I'm cruising around 85 and what slides up next to me but a new Dodge Charger Hemi. We drive side by side, I look over and he wants to go (pointed forward). I bring it down to 4th and we're off. He has a slight pull early, but as I tach 4th I stop his pull. I hit 5th and we are still together with my front bumper at his rear wheel. We hit 130 and I simply cannot gain on him. We shut it down around 135 with him taking the win. I can't really complain as he had 105 HP on me. I did manage to pull a win out against a turbo'ed 240SX in Houston. He was in front and didn't want to relinquesh the lane, so he just hit it. I went for it as well and ran up on him pretty quick. This went on a few more times as I had to keep backing out to keep from running over him. I did think it was cool that every time he shifted he blew a flame out the exhaust.

yeh, the 240 had a straight pipe exust (illigal in RI), But could you not drop it to 3rd when you raced the charger, you have a five speed, right (i don't think 98 M3s have 6 speeds). Well nice story, even though he smoked it was pure design guinius that helped you to keep up with someone that has an engine that is more than twice as big as yours (like I always say, american can't buid cars for nothing).

sounds like an awesome experience! id love to drive my car out on a open road in the desert....the ultimate would be like on a airport runway or sumthing tho!

Are you series 94BMW325i, You have a car that is more than 7000cc. And I thought I was introble when gas prices whent up. My regards to you kid. Do you like fill up everyday, waste 50 a day, man do I feel bad for you.

I hate American cars, Probebly because im Russian! well Ukrainian, but most of you have no clue were that is, Eastern Europe. cheak out the cars that they make. (look at the next post)

tell me you would mess with them on the straight, psh, I know what your thinking, how many shot of NO2?, well, you dont what to know, (come to think of it I dont think I wanna know ether). This all rusted metal engine revs up to a mind-boggeling 2500rpms, and with the car wieghing only 5 tons and the hp is south of 50, this thing rockets from 0-60 in, oh wait, you cant even make it go 60, youll get locky if the car starts, psh, youll get locky if the car holds together!!!

I thought about going to 3rd, but this was really the first time I had gotten in it. In the middle of nowhere, I figured better safe than sorry.

The Trans am is actually faster. The GTO is a ram air 3 car with 366 HP and a 4speed. My wife and I actually ran them on the way to a car show. The TA pulled 2 cars from 70 to 100. That was when the TA was stock. Now with bolt ons and 100 shot of NOS, it's putting down 408HP to the wheels and 12.4 at the track.

After driving the M3 cross country, my wife asked me how it compared to the Trans am and I told her, "The Trans am is Conan the Barbarian, the M3 is Bruce Lee."
