Damn, Another Ticket :(

i was on my way to work, driving the same street ive driven just about everyday for 2 years (maybe seen one or two cops driving, never have seen a cop radaring ppl) and BAM right as i drive to the top of a hill, there is standing a motorcycle cop pointing a radar gun right at me i try and slow down but by that time he is already walking into the middle of the road stoppin traffic so i can cross 2 lanes to pull over ghead nothing much at all was said, asked for my license (didn't have it, left wallet at home), then asked my address and what year my car was made and that was it, handed me two tickets (49 in 35 & no license) and said "drive safely"

man im so pissed, $200 out of my pocket just like that (14 over is $200, no lisence can be dismissed easily b/c i do have one, just not on me at the time) . its hard enough being in high school paying car payments/insurance, but this ticket (3rd one) just adds to the stress

ive heard of some ppl pleading not guilty then delaying their trial as long as possible, hoping that the cop won't show up for the trial thus dismissing the case immediately. has anyone ever tried this... i would but what if the cop acually showed up....then i would be screwed

subpeona or however you spell it, the cop and the records of the radar gun. you need to go down to the courthouse to do this. the radar guns have to be calibrated every 6 months in the state of WA for example. If it isn't, case is dismissed. but you have to do this now. also scheduled it for a time when the cop might not be working, that always pissed them off and won't want to come. with one of mine I did a weekend and he didn't even show lol! (yes in spokane, there is court on saturdays that's how many tickets are given out here).

Another strategy is to keep delaying it for like months... the law says a timely hearing and if it's not timely, case thrown out but this won't work 99% of the time :P

also just ask the judge if you can get probation and pay the fine and attend driving school. I did this when I was going 120 through moses lake

I wouldn't just ask when the gun had been calibrated. I think it takes a lawyer to serve them with a subpeona (a legal document that is a call to action... or something to that extent) demanding the maintence and calibration records for that gun. I wouldn't do that if you are going to try and get the cop to not show up.

You could be really sneeky and call from a pay phone and ask the police department what days that officer works. Then schedule as early as possible on that day.

OK, my mom was doing I think 17 over, she got to the court house really early, and the cop that was their didn't want to hold a new setion just for her, so he dropped her down to only doing 7 over and she ended up only paying $80. If my memory serves me well that is
