Last night on the way home from work, I stopped to get some cash from the ATM. It was dark & raining, I drove down a one way street slowly in heavy traffic, pulled into a parking bay on the right when some fucker in a soft top Vitara ( ) decided to drive forward into my bay with no lights on & without checking his mirrors or even bothering to look! ghead

A bang and a crunch later & I get out of my car to see dents & scratched running about 1.5m down from the start of the drivers side rear passenger door all the way back to my rear lights. He cracked the lights and has taken off shit loads of paint.

At first he said he wasn't even moving & the engine wasn't running, then admitted he was driving, then said he had his lights on and was indicating, then said he didn't. He smelt of booze so I did the unthinkable and called the police. He started saying that he would put it through on his insurance as long as I said it was his wife driving, not him.

Police arrived, took statements, did breath tests on both of us (both clear ghead ) and let us go after exchanging insurance details.

I spoke to my insurance company this morning, if he's uninsured then I have to pay my excess of 250 ($400)!!!

However, if he is insured and admits liability - I get a like-for-like hire car for free
while it's repaired.

To be honest, I think at the moment I would settle for the chance to him, him then his corpse!

Not that I'm angry or anything.....
Will post pics this wkend - camera is at g/f's house.

a repaired car is never the same, i would have told him you would agree to the whole wife thing if he would juss back up and drive about 40 MPH head on into your car, no j/k..kinda, sounds dumb, but i know from experience that totaling your car out is a lot better then having it repaired, especially if it there is a lot of wear and tear on it, you actaully end up coming out ahead.

yeah I see your point, if there was mechanical or structural damage I probably would have considered that - thing is that the car has 55k on the clock & is totally mint apart from the damage from this crash.....
