Hi everyone, I am new to the Forum, but I saw this area and I thought some of you would appreciate this story. I live in the Sacramento area, and near by are some of the nicest twist and turns you can find off a track up by Lake Berryessa. Lots of fast curves and tight ones, no houses, and very quiet roads that seem to have nothing but fast cars and motorcycles on them. Well one day my buddy (who drives a 2001 Z06) and I decide to go terrorize the road, nothing better than a Vette and an E36 M3 dueling, please hold the laughs, I eat him up in corners (driver ability I am sure) and we have a lot of fun. He used to think American Muscle ruled, but not anymore....I digress. Well after an hour of passing people on a tight double yellow road and speeds of over 100 mph on the straights and trying to double the suggested speed limit in the turns we figured we would pull over and enjoy the views of the lake. Not 30 seconds later did a California Higway Patrolman, and a Napa County Sheriff pull in behind us and block our exits. We both have New Hampshire Registration (I am from there and he used my address to not pay sales tax on his car purchase!), thanks to active duty military work. Well the cops looked not too happy, they said they had reports of a white and a black car speeding around the area and people we scared. They asked for ID and were sure it was us, until they saw the military IDs. You guys Pilots at the base they asked. Yes we are we replied, it wasn't a lie. They said, without much more discussion, well if you see a black and white car speeding around let us know and walked away. We were obviously it, but I love my military ID. Score one for the people who love to drive fast. Thought you guys would aprreciate the story!!!

No problem, thanks for the Kudos, I fly the C5 Galaxy out of Travis AFB in Fairfield California. Its a big ass plane and feels slower than my car!!! From experience CHP is cool, just be careful on the interstates!

Z06 is a nice car. I am fond of saying that the corvette is the only american car I'd own. I love it.
So, back on topic.... I need to join the military.

I fly for your freedom and love to do it, and believe me, your thanks are very much appreciated, and I will pass that on to my boy with his Z06. It is a nice car, but lacks the refinement of the M3.
Oh and so all of you know, we did the measurements this morning, I am certain we could fit 18 M3s inside the C5. That be sweet. I wish I could, usually I just see bombs, bullets or armored Humvees, helos, tanks, patriot missle battery, hell I have even seen a Submarine in there!
Love the Military ID though, Thanks again guys, and if you see someone in uniform, don't be afriad to say thanks, it would mean a lot to them!

Yeah, I was taking a 2 hour trip to stay with some friends in college....and passed 2 convoys of Humvees and Military trucks....the trucks didn't impress me much but each Humvee I passed I did a thumbs up. There were like 5-6 Humvees....and they all gave me smiles back. It was awesome!

Thank you!

Being in Kansas, we have KC-135s flying aroud all day. "We are one of only three supertanker KC-135 Stratotanker wings in the Air Force. Our primary mission is to provide global reach by conducting air refueling and airlift where and when needed."

We had 4-5 B1-B Lancers flying around here till 2002...they were missed. We also get E3-Sentries (AWACS), VC-25 - Air Force One, we had the Laser-equipped 747 designed to blast ballistic missiles here....that was nice seeing it escorted by fighter jets.....and occasionally other fighter jets come here to store temperarily when bad weather in other states occurs. So much stuff comes in and goes out...its crazy yet so much fun! Especially when we have an Air Force Show...everything comes in from all around.

Anywho...I was bored and thought I'd share.

You must be near McConnel AFB? I have a friend who flies a 135 for the Kansas ANG. Never been to the state personally, but the Air Force loves states with lots of wide open areas!

Yeah, 10 minutes from my house. Acutally the Military flight path is right in front of my house....so I literally hear and see EVERYTHING that comes in.

I might have met your friend...that is if he drives a BMW. I know of one 135 pilot who does at least.

Yeah I believe that is the number, I don't really pay attention to the road signs with numbers on them But yes that is it. There are a lot of roads up there to be had, but go easy, I know someone who rolled his E30 M3 8 times up there. Of course he survived without a scratch, but he's a lucky one!
