Almost got $1000 ticket yesterday - BMW Forum

it was 10:30 at night, and i was merging onto a 2 lane road, one of those straight roads with no traffic and night, but the speed limit is 40. anyhoo, i plug it into 2nd around then turn and floor it, redlining in 2nd, shift into 3rd, and string it out to almost the redline, going way over 75mph, put it in 4th, then 5th, and slow down a bit, well there's no traffic so i put it in 3rd at 60mph and floor it, and start zooming again. my girlfirend's in the car and we have to turn at the next right turn to go into the campus apartments to drop off something at her friend's place. she's been yelling at me to slow down because there might be a cop on the road, now i see the car with bright lights come ZOOOOOMING up behind me, he must have been doing 85-90mph to catch me that fast, and i'm like, fuck, crown vic headlights and i see the lights on top of the car, but he didn't turn them on. i got SOO scared, i pulled quickly into the parking lot where the apartment, make a quick turn into a parking spot into the corner and shut off my lights, going to die from being so scared. the cop didn't pull me over, he just kept going in the parking lot. i guess he had to meet some other cop there or something, because he came up fast as hell behind me, pulled in behind me into the apartment complex and kept going. PHEW! it took me about 30 minutes to calm down......

You got lucky!!! He may have been chasing 'someone who was speeding' but wasn't sure if you were that someone or not. Nice Kill

dude, it was a nice kill, it only took me about 15 seconds to go from 30mph to 75mph. actually, it was probably like 20 seconds.

I've never actually counted before. But I can go from zero to drunk in like 5.5 beers. Does that count?

i can do it in less. my tolerance is like a 12 year old girl. i'm a cheap date though.

i think realisticly it probably took about 12 seconds, maybe a little less, since i hit like 55-60 in 2nd gear at the redline

yeah but they cost 400 bucks. if everyone on this forum gave me $1, then i'd have enough money!!! maybe i could buy a cheap one for like 5 bucks.

sounds like you need a V1...even if it cost you $400 it would have saved you $600 for the ticket.

Here's a question - Why does it matter where the police officer is? How do you change your habit if the cop is in front/behind/to the side of you? You slow down either way right?

The V1 has arrows that light up to tell you if the cop is behind, in front, or to the side of you. So if you're coming up a hill, and the cop is on the other side, the arrow poiting forward lights up. If he's behind the arrow pointing back lights up. What I'm trying to figure out is why it makes a difference where the cop is relative to your position. Once the radar goes off, warning you of a speed trap, you slow down anyway. Why would it make a difference where the cop was? You're still going to slow down.

Unless I'm thinking ov a different radar that has the arrows and the V1 doesn't.
