we raced on a long empty strip, i had just got this car so i wanted to test the power on it... he was always 1/2- 1 car length ahead of me.. unfortunately.. i ended up losing by 2 car lengths..
Considering that it was a v6 and an automatic... huh...
At first I was thinking "This guy in a stock 325i is going to say he beat a mustang gt" and I was going to be doubtful.
Heya, that's okay. get him on the twisties!
I don't know. Ha. I am unsure as to how fast an auto mustang hits... Do you know what year the mustang was? I can pull up some quick stats, but nothing fancy.
But not tonight. Going to see green day...
The V6 stang I am assuming had//has more torque than your 325, did either one of you launch or you just nailed it from the start...?
You'd probably be able to take him from a roll

Ive beat a V6 CONVERTIBLE mustang automatic in my e34 m20 525i when it was stock and automatic. I used sequential shifting but nothing can really be as good as sequential.
Point bein that the auto V6 stangs are flat out terrible.

First of all, the V6 3.8L mustang has one of the shittiest engines ever. you have the same HP as it and your engine is 1.3L smaller! Also the fact that the stang is new probably helped.
However, w/ a few mods like a CAI and possibly a chip, youll have him by atleast 2 lenghs. the 325 is very easy to play around with. I have a 328i 5-Speed spor sedan w/ just a CAI and i raced my friend w/ a 2003 V6 auto. not to mention he has a CAI also w/ a Borla exhaust system. (BTW- why put all that $ into a V6?! Get the GT!) anyway, he never was in front. Of the line w/ my manual i had a small advantange, but didnt really need it. once i got to about 6500rpm in second i was gone.
So challenge him again, i bet you can take him. dont mess w/ a GT tho.... the 4.6 and 5.0 are enough to take you out
On that note, a tip on "racing" automatics: Move your shifter into the gear position below D, but make sure it's still in "A" mode. That will change shift points into "sport mode" and you might find a little bit more oomph at the loss of your top gear. No harm done to your car.
n I've never lost to a v6 mustang and I've harassed quite a few of them. I wonder if it's partially the automatic. Do you get any chirp from 1st - 2nd gear? That's half the fun, especially on z rated tires. My condolences man, better luck next time.

The only thing a mustang has on you is its low end torque. If you both had automatics and both punched it he could potentially gain enough lead off the line for your gain to be worthless. My friend has a 99 3.8 mustang and when I race him in my 325is I always launch my automatic. Torque breaking makes up for the lost torque and the rest is history along with him.

yea....I tried racing a little in my mom's 2001 Nissan Maxima GLE (3.0 L 222hp twin cam V-6) and the torque delay was pretty bad until my friend showed me how to shift from 2nd gear to Drive. Funny story actually....when he showed me how I had decided I was going to show up this hot shot kid from the boonies who was trying to motorsport his Saturn coupe that was loaded up with girls (had chrome wheels and a fart can to boot). Overshifted the Max into neutral when up shifting and still smoked the kid. But yea...I'll stop with the Japanese cars, I know this is a Bimmer board haha.
