So a buddy of mine owns a car dealership, and last night he stopped by to show me a new car that got traded in... a 2005 Lancer Evo that had some nice mods. The guy who traded it in for a new Z06 said he put about $8,000 in mods in it. From what I could tell right away, it had CAI, exhaust, aftermarket turbo, boost controller, turbo timer, and short shifter. Turbo is pushing about 15 psi, so I think this car is easily pushing over 300hp.
Then he let me drive it. Holy $h!t, that car is fast! I have never driven a turboed car and this first time experience has got me addicted to F/I. So much fun. We did a few 0-100 mph runs and I think it only took about 6.5 -7.0 sec to get there.
that is all

Dream on ... an Enzo takes 6.6 to 100mph ...
And by the way, a stock Evo boosts at around 17psi ... just a FYI.
The details are less important. However, when you post times to the car crowd, they will hold you to them! There were 2 10 second cars (both 9.1 for the 1/4 mile) at my race shop the other day. One was a Z06 and the other a totally custom Porche twin turbo. The Vette had a wing like literally a plane, and the Porche an intercooler the size of an air conditioner! They were modded to the moon, and each had 850-900 hp to the WHEELS to get that fast. Freakin' scary is what! The Porche guy had a full sized actual Badge in his windshield for those inconvenient stops at 180mph...
Bottom line - Boost is FUN, usually expensive, and it would be interesting to actually have CONTROL of it as many cars do now. I like that idea a lot. With mine, I'm just looking for a nice matching gauge to know what I'm blowing at any given time. Hop on the F/I train and enjoy the ride - (hint - it's FAST!!!
