Hi everyone, I'm from the LA area and I just wanted to know if anyone knows if there are any race tracks or circuits that are open to the public where you can rent it out for hours at a time or something, take your own car out on it and just drive your heart out. I've searched all over the internet and can't find any sites that help me out.

I've been looking for the same thing. But...i'm in Ventura county and the closest thing I have found is CalClub which does Solo's (AutoX) at Hollywood park(2hrs drive) on the weekends. you can look them up on the web CalClub.com. There is Buttonwillow raceway just inside Bakersfield. I've been wanting to call and see just how the track renting works and if you need a SCCA licence to run it. There is also a raceway in Rosemond just befor Mojave...forget the name right now. If you research any of this stuff let me know what you find out. I definately want to do the Solo's and start getting my feet wet.

Wow everything is so far away...but I bet the drive will definitely be worth it. What's an SCCA license btw and how do you get one?
