Next-Gen BMW 3 Series Growing, Losing Weight and Going Hybrid

Now that the redesigned BMW 5 and 7 Series models have launched, focus is being put on the next-generation 3 Series.

Spy photographers have already caught the next-generation sedan testing, but details on changes have been scarce. Now, German publication Auto Motor Und Sport reports the new 3 Series will be 2.3 inches (6 cm) longer than the current model, while its wheelbase is about 0.7 inches (2 cm) longer. What we do know for sure is the BMW 3 Series will ride on the German automakerís CLAR platform, which means it will be lighter. AMS reports it will shed around 88 pounds (40 kilograms).
