Rumors of a possible GTS version of the BMW 1 Series M Coupe have surfaced, with the car's debut set for the Tokyo Auto Show this fall.
According to BMW insider Scott27 posting on GermanCarForum.com, the concept car will be based on a current M car, but one that is also "outgoing." While the M3 jumps immediately to mind, the 1M Coupe is also a possibility, as this high-performance model joins the BMW lineup late in the life cycle of the first-gen 1 Series.
Referred to as an engineering concept, it's designed to showcase light weight technology, from magnesium to carbon fiber and is tipped to be similar to the 1 Series Concept Tii, raising speculation that it could be a higher-performance version of the 1M Coupe, much like the M3 GTS.
