Winter Rims

I just bought a set of winter rims that i heard on a local buy/sell radio station. I paid 450 for 4 perfect condition rims and brand new tires. Good deal or not?

Someone educate me please. I can understand the need for winter tires in snowy/icey areas, but what is the purpose of winter rims? What makes them different?

you dont have to go about changing tires so many times which is very costly... and you can store them somewhere and whip them out real fast... plus road salt might damage wheels, so winter wheels are usually normal steel wheels, and are usually a smaller size (for example if you have 18s you would most likely get like 16s winter wheel). etc.
