Geneva 2004, BMW reveals their M5 Concept to the world. At the heart of the beast, lie a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V10 producing 500 hp and at least 500 Nm of torque. With the new M5 debuting as a production model this year in Paris, is BMW ready to pull off another M concept out of their hats? Perhaps a M7 Concept with a 6.0-litre V12 producing in excess of 600 hp and well above 650 Nm of torque. Even though the artists rendering above is just a figment of our imagination, a M6 concept is more likely to appear at Paris along side its M5 brother rather than a M7. The M6 concept would use the same exact engine as the M5, the 5.0-lire V10, but conceivably with more power. The M6 concept would also come equipped with the 7 Speed SMG gearbox and thus benefit from its F1 origins. If a concept does debut, the production version could come as early as mid to late 2005 as a 2006 model. However, if the 5.0-litre V10 with 500 hp isn’t enough for you, a CSL edition of the M6 is being considered and will employ the same weight saving techniques and power gains as the M3 CSL.
Um... I don't know why they'd think m7. But, as this is a past news brief and the m6 became a reality, I don't really see why this was brought up? Or was it just to tweak the "what if" scenario - like the ///m version of the x5.
But it would not represent what the title says. M for Motorsport, and you cant do this on a sedan built for PURE CLASS. I knwo the 7 has a lot of performance, but it's purpose is luxury. That is that.

i really cant see them making this car, they already were very unsure of the m6, but it was a previous model anyways, i say they should bring back the 8 series and make an M8........now that would be tits
in a sense, the 8 is back. The original 8 was a successor to the 6. Obviously, the 6 is back.

too many M's right now, bmw doesnt need to make a 7, seriously and realistically, they already have the mz4 coming out, there is no need for a 7.

What? Succesor? Are you talking the L6? The 8 and the 6 are non-relation, the 8 was taken more from the 1 than anything else. In a very general sense it was supposed to be half brother of the famed 1. As far as the 6 is concerned in this relationship it is a stand alone family member with no direct ties to any of the 2+2 halfbread supercars.
I want to see the //M1 come back now that I think about it. Alas they've turned the 1 into a suedo Golf. used:
I personally would love to see an M7 make a reappearance (yes, reappearance). I'd be first in line to test-drive it. My question is: What engine could they possibly put in it...it would have to be better than the 760's...maybe a Supercharged V12???
meh...
i think if they would be flooding their market with too many M's and detract from the baseline 3,5,6,7 and Z series cars...i know itd still be expensive..but its completely unneccessary for them to make it..
i think if they had to make an M engine, they'd probably do a the 6.0L v12 still, and probably throw on a turbo, s/c doesnt seem like BMW style.
if someone is really the enthusiast and wanted an M7..they could have hartge or someone do their 7er.
