I'm looking for some more information on the different types of gearboxes used by BMW.

I'm not sure if you can help me, but I'm looking for more information on the Getrag transmissions used in the E30 and E36 3-series, the E28 and E34 5-series, and the E32 7-series. Besides type-numbers, it would also be good to know if any of these transmissions are interchangeable...

I want to make a list of compatible gearboxes.. I could find a bunch of information on the auto-boxes, but very little on the manual transmissions..

The list will be put online as soon as it's completed, hope it'll help peolple thinking about engine-swaps..
