Thinking About Getting M5 E60 - BMW Forum

Hey guys,
This is my first post so here is a little background. I currently live in Hawaii with my wife and 3 children (13 year old son, 10 and 4 year old daughters) Right now I have a X5 on lease and 330Ci convertible. Im intrested in putting my name on the waiting list for the E60 as soon as that starts. My wife recently got me to let her get a Toyota Sienna mini van, so now the M5 is no longer the "family" car. Do you guys think at the end of the lease (2004) i should get the M5 or get rid of the convertible also. Heres the catch. Recently my mother (65) was driving it to the market (about 2 minutes away) and tore of the front bumper. My son is really good with cars and we usually fix any probles (he does all the math and planning i just do the wrench work). So should I take the time to get this fixed if im possibly going to get rid of it also.

well the new M5 shouldnt be out until 2005. however get on the waiting list NOW if you want one. or you can buy a 2003-2000 for good prices right now. as far as getting rid of the convertible that is all you. if you enjoy it and can afford to keep that and the M5 i would say do it and just use the 330 as a daily driver. M5 is sweet especially the new one with rumored 550hp

I am planning on getting one but I will wait until the second or third year they have been released, so that won't be for a few years.

its always a good idea to wait a year or two after a brand new design comes out so the manufacturer has some time to fix all the small flaws and other things that public doesnt like. (a good example of this is when the e46 m3 came out in '00 it didnt have a front strut bar, but it got one a year or two after) yes, its a small thing, but probably worth the wait in the end.

but you could still probably request something like from the dealer and get it for free if you had a 01 M3. i think the big reason to wait is cause its a brand new engine, even the S54 had a 3-4month bad spell in the beginning of its production. the M5 should come out over year after the new design so all electrical quirks should be fixed by then

i'd go for the M5, it looks like it will be a nice car.

if you like the way it looks, it looks like a sweet bet that should own the E55 and RS6

also there is the ///M6 that may be coming out

keep the 330i and get the m5, the more bmw's the better

you can get a 2000 M5 for under $50,000. the E60 will cost over $80,000, that's a lot of money to spend on a car

probably over 100k in its first year due to demand depending on where you live

True the E60 M5 isn't supposed to be out until 2005. This also allows a year to work out any bugs in the E60 platform before they put out the M5 version so I wouldn't be as worried about first year problems. IMO, I think you will be able to get first year M5's at or near sticker price but I have been wrong before (as my wife reminds me on a daily basis). If I were you, I'ld turn in the X5 at lease end and drive the 330 till the M5 is available.

thanx . i have decided to do that. Ive never had an M series before and I am getting pretty antsy for the E60 now. Great 2004 is gonna be a year of waiting.

the M5 might be out next october. considering the 545 is already out
