Vent time...I often drive to campus rather than walk or take the bus because I have to go to work right before or after class or I have a meeting or something...anyway, every time I've been on campus with my car, people have been assholes. Quite often when I drive around with the windows down, or when I'm getting in or out of the car, some guy within earshot says something like "Oooo, I got a BMW, I'm special," "Check the fag in his beamer," or, today, "Wow, thanks dad!"

I think the last one pisses me off the most. I don't care what else they say; I bought this car because I love it, not to make other people to think I'm a better person, or elevate my "social status", or any bullsh!t like that, and if they want to think that's why I bought it, fine, screw 'em. But I bought it, it wasn't handed to me by my father (like I'd say 90% of the nice cars around here are--one guy's dad just bought him an M3, another has a new Porsche, and those are just the ones I know of), so it pisses me off when someone says something like that, because I work and I saved and I bought this myself. Making it additionally ironic and hypocritical is that I bet that dude's (or at least some of these people's) parents are paying for his college tuition and board (which my parents aren't), but no one will hear me bitching about his free education even though he's under the mistaken impression that I got my car for free. I'm not bitter about that or anything--that's cool that parents will pay for their kids schooling, as I hope to one day, although I don't agree with parents that hand their kids $50,000 cars...but even when they do, I'm not a dick about it and say mean things when they drive by. PLUS, it's not like there's any shortage of nice cars around here -- although 5-series are rare (I've seen only one other E39), it seems that everybody and their brother has a 3-er or an A4--there's quite literally hundreds of those on campus--so I don't see why they're compelled to open their mouths to me. I'm already at the point where I don't want to drive my car on campus, but I don't have another to use.

Anyway, I just needed to vent, and pose the (probably rhetorical) question: what the hell is with some people???

next time you drive to school, drive over the dick that flares his mouth. Then you can yell at him about the scratch that he put in your car. It will make you feel better

Or if nothing else

It doesnt happen to me that I know of but I'm not a student. I prolly should be. I'm at least of the right age group... but fuckit man. whos problem is it really? yours for making it happen and working for and appricating everything you have and are working for or the "Thanks Dad" naysayers who may not have it quite as good as you my fellow bimmer driving friend?

I mean whos fault is it the don't know the joy of a I6 and all leather interor and all those other wonderful features of our rides? Not ours... let them nay say and think what they will... cause do they really matter?

NO!

you're gonna run into people like that no matter where you go. i've been through similar situations as you have. basically, i've learned to ignore them. let them say or think whatever they want.

exactly what it is, the only people that don't like the fact that you, whoever you may be, are in a nice car are the ones that wish they were you, and know they will never get to be you. the people that envy you in that car, and will someday after working hard get to own a car like yours are the ones that will tell you how nice the car is. the next time you see the kid who yelled thanks dad tell him how nice his maxima is, its the best he will ever own.

This is not aimed at anyoen here at all

i just posted this in another thread adn thought it applies here too.

Man. I live in a very rich area. My HS parking lot has a majority of bimmers. I dont feel jealous. I am rather a bit happy that i get to see such nice cars each day. A few of my friends cars aree36 328is lowered/shocks, 04 330cic Z8 rims, 04 M3 loaded xcept smg navi and 19's, e36 M3 obdII, e36 nonvanos. Sure i should be jealous, but i'm not. I like to see sum nice eye candy. Maybe it even motivates me a little more to do well in school to get these kinda cars.

The problem in my school is that everyoen adn their moms have e46's. That is the sux part It is just too abundant to be appreciated at out school.

I dont get bitchy about people being 16, well off, and havign awesome cars. I realize the parents have done well in life, and that the parents like to see their kids happy and njoying it to the fullest extent they can afford. No problem with me. The only real people i dislike for cars are those like the example i will explain below.

This rich ass kid in our school has a S430. He modded it. put pimp rims everything. puts s600 sign on it. Ok w/e i dont care. next thign i hear, i hear him trashing sum other kids car (and e30) and how his car is a POS and should nvr have been produced. Next day, i hear this s430 kid say damn my car is old, i need a new one. (this car is liek an 02 btw)

Ok that crosses the line. Funny thing is, about a week later sum1 ran into the back of his car while it was parked. No sympathy from me.

so pretty much in conclusion, it is all about how you act with your car.

true that i never disliked people for what they drive.

more often then not the only thing i like about some people is what they drive. I don't care what the car is, but if you take care of it and treat like a baby, you got all the respect i can give.
