I've heard from a lot of people that Midwest Motorsport is the place to take a BMW around Chicago. I'm looking to have an M3 exhaust installed (I have the exhaust) and the '95 325is 76k inspected before I hand over final payment to the seller. From what I've heard, going to Leo over at MM is overkill for this type of thing, and he's a fair ways outside the city.

Can anyone recommend a BMW specialist IN the city of Chicago? I'm not supercharging or anything (yet....!), so I'm not keen on paying $125/hour for nationally-famous techinicians when I just need a basic inspection and 20-minute exhaust swap.

Any Chicagoans out there?

also, when I go by parked cars (and the sound echoes), I can hear a small rattle from the passenger rear over bumps. It sounds like some light metal parts hitting each other rapidly, and only comes from the rear right over bumps. Any ideas? pretty general, I know, but I thought I would have something in mind before going in for the inspection.

Don't know about who you could go to as I am in Va, but the rattle may be from a lose heat sheild, or an exhaust hanger that's shot. If you grab the exhaust and move it with your hand can you reproduce the sound?

I think it's a heat shield. It's definitely coming from the right and not the left, and the exhaust doesn't go near the right side of the car (relatively... middle then left). thanks!

Steve over at Fall-Line here in Chicago will take another look at it when he installs my full Dinan stage 3 suspension

I live about ten minutes for leo's place, and i hear from most of my friends that he is the man to go to for bimmers. I have a few friends with 96 318's and they have had stuff done by leo and have nothing but compliments. I have no personal exprience with him, but this is what i hear.
