I am getting tired of two old, lame themes on posts on this forum...
1) "BMWs do not like..." Synthetic Oil (or Nitrous, or Turbos, or Superchargers, Debaffles, Chips, Pulleys, etc...)
Mods are mods and your BMW engine isn't that fussy, fragile, or otherwise unstable enough to use traditional BHp and Torque enhancing engine mods. BMW Engines are among the best on the Planet, don't try to pass them off as anything less!
Another lame tactic of saying any personally undesirable mod is too "2 Fast 2 Furious," or too "Ricer" is a cop out too! If you don't want to use Synthetic Oil, Nitrous, or a Blower, etc. - fine. Just don't try to Preach your idea of what is right to others when you haven't even turned a wrench trying the alternatives, okay?
Also!
2) The next guy who says that putting stickers on your ride will give your car more Horsepower, or make your car faster will lose all their short and curlies mysteriously and permanently!
The "Stickers = more BHp" joke was old, way back in the Seventies when I was a teenager! It was barely funny then and it's about as much fun as watching paint dry now, unless you are a teenager!

The whole thing makes me sick, YES, there are things that are tasteless to do to your car especially a BMW. If I see someone in a rice bomb BMW I am going to give them shit. We call it Disco out here in S OC. The same thing goes for trucks, if you've got an all spindle/block lift your shit's disco get over it.
If you have no taste you desevre to be made fun of, ran over, and shot while being hung.

: "disco"
is that the new cool catch word now......i remember when so cal started using "hella" like "its going out of style..."
"peace out"
oh, according to most insurance companies...vinyl does add ponies to the ride. thats why they raise ur rates when they find out u put racing stripes and things like that on ur car......
and ur damned if u even think of driving a red convertable......
Powered by Honday, and VTEC stickers do give you more HP, i heard they also make your car more aerodynamic. isnt that correct?

Yes Doc, I do see what your saying, there is a lot of trash talk around here these days. A product of young users for sure.
But if I see a young kid who just bought a new 3er, has watched 2 fast and 2 furious seventeen times, and actually has the money to put a turbocharger on it, I will certainly express concern. I've owned German cars that came from the factory with Turbos, and unless you have deep pockets, they aren't a good idea. Adding one two a car designed to be normally aspirated, well, that's just stupid.
Both the 4 and the 6 cylinder powerplants built by BMW are some of the best in the world, they truely are. But they are also German. That means they are overengineered, and VERY finicky. I went through $250 worth of spark plugs before I got it right. They are very finely tuned machines, and making changes without research is not a smart idea.
So, the next time you see someone giving a noob a hard time about something, while it may be disguised as trash talk, it may also be a fair warning to potential pitfalls to come.
well, i love the folks who are "enhancing" their rides, and am glad to see theres some really bad ones too.
lets recap, okay.
even when we totally botch up and make it worse, we are in turn learning.
i remember cutting the roof off of a 78 toyota corolla and lovin it, because i was ghetto and needed a convertable.
i remember that thing was held on by duct tape for about a week, until i made a simple metal attatchments.
and im certain lots of poeple were laughing at me...
but
you know what...
when me and my girlfriend were out at night, in the arizona skies, with a bijillion stars shining down, we were laughing.
i learned that i always need a conv. at any cost and if it gave me even 1 hour of joy than it was worth it.
dont sweat the posers too much, there not going to be 75 years old doing the same thing...
just be glad that they are
1. creating a bigger market for after-market stuff. (not everyone can afford a bmw).
2. pushing the manufactureres (sp.) to keep up with progress.
3. that ricer/poser may have the funny thing now, but in the future may very well have the creativity to design the best auto ever, or upgrade...
just chill holmes...why sweat the posers, be glad you have such a wonderful machine and with a bit of grace they will grow with what really works.
but if i could ever design the best mod it would be
have a motorcycle engine for each wheel and a smoke screen. B)

Typical kiddie behaviour, they believe themselves to also be surrounded by people with their maturity level, shocking when they find out they still don't know siht.
lol that last time i heard the word disco was when i was trying to hook up with this chick from englangd, she said she wanted to go to the "disco'", i was like wtf, she meant school dance, lol
