Questions?

I will be getting a new 325xi in about two weeks, and I'm wondering how many miles the break in should be. I have heard anything between 1000-1500 miles, while not exceeding 3500 rpm and not doing over 55mph. What do you guys think? Also Im going to be in the market for an intake, but i have heard that some of them don't work with bimmers that have xenon lights? Any ideas for a good intake are welcome!

Hey anthony..personally I believe that the most crucial period is the first few
hundred miles where minute metal chips maybe running around your engine,
grinding things up until they get caught in the oil filter..I would also then change the oil/filter after 500m and again at 1000m..

1500 miles you should keep it under 4500 rpm, but like ski said, the first couple hundred are the most crucial.

if you dont...the engine dosent last as long as it should

in your 325 just be sure to keep it under 5k (manual says 4.5 but BMW technicians in Germany themselves said its good to go over 4.5k once in a while durrent break-in)....the break-in period will last about 1200, not much more then 1 months driving...after that....have fun!

thanks for the tips, but do you guys know anything about the intake? What kind would give me the best performance gain?

intakes are a small mod for our cars. they dont really add serious HP for the Money. Dinan is suppose to be one of the best if not the best. carbon fibre molded for better air flow and lighter wieght. however i do know that these puppies run some serious cash. but also know that the intake tube itself doenst mean much if you dont have a really good intake cone. K&N is pretty much the standard goods for this catagory. also i hear these foam filters i think IGT makes some. are suppose to be amazing as well.
