what was the hardest DIY or fix you have done on your car or any bimmer for the mechanics on board?
well on my car it was changing the damn tension pully, but on any bmw the hardest thing to change was the door lock actuator. man did i need help that day.
the hardest thing i ever did was i changed to a spare without a jacket... I have not had my BMW long, so i've only done easy shit like oil changes, detailing, etc...
lol mines kinda funny.. both door handels (inside got broken) one by the detailer cleaning my car the other by me on a cold night.
i got the new one that i broke and installed it. i went to open the door nothin. i thought to myself wtf what is this shit this one broken to.. then i realized i wasnt putting the cable thru the handles tension channel.. thats the only thing ive had to fix on my bmw..
my cousin is looking to supercharge his 540i and wants me to do it.. this could get intresting when i start ill keep you guys posted on my headaches.

I haven't done many fixes on my car yet. The most time consuming is the O2 sensor on the exhaust pipes.. This was very time consuming to do without a lift, therefore I am putting this on a ** out of a 1 to 4 ****

Most PITA job I can recall at work has been replacing a starter on an E30 E engine, but that may change tomorrow if I have to replace the oil cooler lines on a '94 540i. Book says it is a 3 hour job, I've never done it before so I'll be lucky if I can get it done in 4.5 hours. To those of you out there thinking of becoming a tech, keep this in mind, BMW are probably some of the easiest cars to work on so if you are going to be a tech be a BMW tech, otherwise find another line of work. I've been a fulltime tech for only the last 3+ years, and a BMW only tech for the last 6 months and I am already thinking of switching profesions to chasis fabrication or at least something non repair oriented like I'm doing now. So if you can afford to pay someone to fix your car cause if you start doing repair work full time like me you will slowly loose your mind and intrest in cars n Cause the last thing you want to do after working on other peoples cars for 9 hours is fix your own.
why do you think us mechanics have such shitty cars people? everyone and their mother wants us to fix their car, its nerve racking, the warranty aspect is almost criminal, service managers and advisors suck dick and the tech gets no respect unless somethins really needed of them..
thank god i left the trade.
