Newbie Question: 1-Series vs 3-Series

Hello all,

Newbie from Middletown, Rhode Island here... Don't know the first thing about bmw's except that they look awesome. My parents want to get my sister one for her 16th and asked me to do research for them. I saw them try to do research on their own but they still type with only their index fingers...

ANYWAY! I felt the best advice would come from a forum.. Obviously the M1's are most affordable, but if there's something about the M3 that's worth shelling out the extra bucks, could you please let me know?? Basically just let me know the main differences between the two so i can relay them to my parents.

My parents also wanted to know if at all possible if anyone had any information about the dealer near our house, BMW of Newport... you can see them here => BMW of Newport | Rhode Island BMW Dealer in Middletown, RI | New & Used BMW Dealership | BMW Cars, BMW Parts, BMW Service in Rhode Island

Any experiences with this dealer, or any BMW dealer in the area, good or bad, would be mighty helpful.

Anyway thanks for your help! Please reply asap! My sister's bday is coming up quick!

The M3 would be an awful lotta first car. The M1 is an older, classic BMW super car. The 135i is the best performing 1 series.
