The new M5

Sorry if this is a repost. Looks like it has 507 hp and 383 ft/lbs of torque. I expected higher numbers, especially torque.

Hey.... Motorsports figured it was enough torque... so it must be enough... good looking car... even if I dont like the style.

I am interested in seeing how the new M5 stacks up against the RS6 and the E55 AMG. Both cars have more torque, but the M5 has the advatnage of being N/A which will give it quicker throttle response, and BMW will prolly gear it very aggresively. I expect it outhandle both of course=)

anyone know when is the new m5 gonna be out? and how $$$$$ will it be??

383 doesnt sound like much but that because its sitting right next to 507.

Remember the new corvette has 390 ft/lbs of torque.... (and only 400 hp.)

your right about the gearing. 7 close ratio gears being shifted by an enhanced SMG at 8300rpm. i'm not sure what the exact hp figures are for the rs6 and the e55, but i'm sure that m5 is very competitive if not better than the two in its power to weight ratio. keep in mind that you dont need gobs of tq to get good performance; look at the 360 modena: 400hp, 275lb-ft.

will it cost alot more than the existing m5?

I must say the new 5 series is really growing on me..I've seen more than a few new 5 and 7 series on the road, and in person, it looks pretty good...

I still prefer the previous generation...but I don't think that will last much longer...

or at least, a new m5 engine in one.

but i had hopes for the new 6, and look at that thing.
