Need Some Input

So i'm looking to get a BMW next year, and i'm at a debate, E36 M3 or E46 325iC style. I really love M3's, who doesn't? but the E46 325iC looks GREAT, espicially with a few aesthetic mods, wheels, suspension, etc. My biggest things are 6 cylinder, manual trans, and coupe. Thanks for the input everyone.

I think you'll find that the aftermarket support for the e36 ///m is much more vast, due simply to the cult appeal of them. If i had the funds, i would already have one.

well i don't plan on doing much above tint, intake, exhaust, suspension, and a nice set of wheels, all which are most likely to be pretty common amongst the two, i just don't know which one i should go for. cause i can find E46 325iC's for like the same cost as an E36 M3 but the M's always have way more miles, and i don't know about longevity of the M's, or BMW's generally speaking.

Properly maintained, any car will go a long time. For BMW's in terms of longevity, look at how many e21's and e30's are still active runners today. There are always great cars out there, like my old E30 323 baur tc. 65k original when i bought it. Keep your eyes open, and you may strike gold like i did. If all you are going to do is mainly visual modifications, it's your decision as to which vehicle you choose. Your tastaes will determine if you are going to be truly happy in that car. I'm just glad you chose BMW as a manufacturer. (WOW, that last sentence sounded like i work for BMW)

Except BMW can spell.

If you're more concerned about the aesthetic appeal then it may be the 325ic. It's going to attract more attention based solely with the mods you have in mind. The m3 will last every bit as long and is a much better performer but you may start out with someone elses problems. Given the choice I would also go with the m3, but I'm typically all about the numbers.

Well don't get me wrong fellas, i love power. I just finished doing a S/C install, with a bunch of other goodies on my mustang, but due to furture events i will have to sell the daily driver and my mustang, so i will be consolidating to one vehicle. Between the E36 M3 and E46 325 is a very hard choice because i love power and numbers, but the E46 has the looks. What's the power/performance differences between the two?
