should i use synthetic or not? and what brand...Redline? and also the weight of the oil if anyone knows

It depends on how you treat your engine. If you redline it all the time like I do then use mobil 1 synthetic. I think its the best, but thats my preference, theres nothing really to prove whats best. I would either use mobil 1 or castrol, but if you rag on your engine use synthetic. $30 for a case.

redline is the best for tranny fluids! For regular oil I use mobil 1 synthetic in either 0w 30 or 5w 30.

I'm sure you all have your own preference. But BMW recommends Dextron 3 ATF.

all the fluids in my e36 were redline, they are the best, plain and simple...! :angry: B)
