yes... the engines were differant on the older 325i s... they didnt have variable vale timeing, and thry had a distributer instead of coil packs (i think)
I have an E30 325i and the engine is great. The E30 engine was biult to last and is very strong. If u are lookin for a good year for a 325i i would try to find somethin between 87-90. Hope u find what ur lookin for!
O yea and

The e vs. an i is that the e is an economy version of the engine so it gets better gas mileage and the i is a sport version. The i is bettter I would go for that.
The 80's are the E30's and the 90's are the E36's they are both great builds of cars and since you don't know much about them I would pick what body style you like and what's in your budget.
very nice guys, tx
that sums it up nicely ;p
ill keep looking around then till i find a 325i or get sucked in to the other car i like the nissan 240sx xD
used to want that car really bad... but now i would rather find a 325 xD
i get so torn up inside lol
anyways tx again~!
there was no 84 325i. the 'i's ran from 87-91 in the e30 body style, and the 'e's ran from 84-88. the 'e's, or ETA's, were revlimited at 4500rpm but you could still get sport versions in 86-87 which gave it better looks and a sportier suspension. both cars were fuel injected and used M20 engines however the e=2.7L and i=2.5L, along with many other differences internally.
