Hey all. Boy am i glad to find this board. Not too sure how well this is going to go over but let me whinge my story. I am 20 years old and am about to buy my first car. I have been working and saving so hard all year with my heart and soul set on a 318i E36 somewhere between 91 and 94 model. And well i don't know how to put this as i don't want to sound arrogant although am being touted as such for being so excited over getting this car...Do you guys think people get jealous and treat you differently because of the car you drive? My aunty has always had Mercedes and had terrible things done to her car because of other peoples jealousy. So am i just being an arrogant little bitch by being excited over my first Beamer or are some people out there really that jealous that they have to stick the boot in and try and spoil it

2nd thing-treated differently? well no not really, some people thing "Ohhhh BMW huh? must have cash" but for the most part BMW's have become a little more popular and people dont really notice them as much as they used to. unless you have very jealous friends or enemies (honestly who doesnt :lol you be tottally fine..... i personally picked my car up over 2 years ago , so i think i was just barely 22, no one really said much or did much, i think the only thing i ever heard was my ex,ex,ex gurlfriend at the time said doesnt that car mean you now have turned into an "asshole driver"

You have worked to earn the money to buy the car you want. Some people will always be jealous but you can't let that worry you. They should be few and far between. Be sure you get the car inspected by a well known garage before signing on the dotted line. Park the car in the right places, well lit, off street, etc. and you will be fine. Always drive responsibility NO DRINKING and driving. Get the Car and enjoy it. It sounds to me like you have earned it.

i'm 16 and im' getting a bmw too, i've thought about what you're thinking about too and what it comes down to is that as long as you know that you worked for your car (you'll know if you have) it's all good. I'm giving up a lot of othe rstuff so I have money for this as I'm sure you are, and what you think is what's important.
As for what people do to your car.. I don't think an old E36 will get you that much attention that strangers will start keying it out of envy

As for where to get it from well i don't know where this site is based but i am in Australia so have been searching the trading post and am thinking the newsagents will have several auto trader magazines that i can pick up also. Will help having an ex racing car driver uncle who does a bit of mechanics work as well..seems to think he knows his cars so will take him with me to check them out so that they don't see this dumb blonde ghead coming from miles away!

youll be fine, i think the only damage every to my car was someone keyed the hood. but it wasnt just me it was this whole sub-division. i could have been driving a shitbox and it would have gotten keyed anyways. i think their were 40 cars keyed that night
