hey my brother just got a M3 and he was wondering which is better the valentine or the passport radar detector?

Passaport say they are the best and Valentine say they are the best.....

BUY BOTH!!!!

Actually the best way to go is just drive SLOW hahaha

they both work fine. I have Valentine

V1 is the bomb, but you will get a lot of false warnings, but keep in mind that all X band that shows up on V1 there will be a 99.9% chance it's not a cop. X band is the only one that gives false warnings. V1 is super sensitive but it's the best IMO.

both are very good detectors. while the valentine will give you false warnings like cam had mentioned, but the valentine will give you an earlier warning than the passport.

I too would go with the V1 over the passport, a friend of mine has it and he sais it is truely amazing. I do have a question about it though, i heard that the V1 doesn't work as well in bimmers because of the type of tint on the windows, has anyone else heard about this?

just make sure the front and rear beams have a clear, unobstructed view both front and back, i even have tints, and it still works great...id worry if i was cam though, his tint my really reduce functionality since the v1 has to "see" the light (radar beem)

passport has better range on the most important band, is cheaper, and more compact. but the V1 has arrows which are very helpful

I haven't noticed my tint affect in yet.

Here is a V1 story that happened today...

I was driving on a street where the speed limit is 25, there is hardly ever any cops on this road so I usually drive 40-45. Well today when I got on this street the V1 started going off, I could not see a cop anywhere but the arrows on the V1 suggested he was ahead, but I continued to travel the speed limit just in case. About a half mile down the road the V1 kept getting stronger and stronger, it was now at the point where it was detecting strong radar. Just then I notice an undercover cop on the side of the road clocking people.

I guarantee if I didn't have my V1 I would have been caught speeding, not only did it save me but it told me there was a cop around long before I was in range for the cop.

a passport wouldve helped just as well, but thats a perfect example why buying a radar detector is a good move. the neither V1 nor passport can help u on interstate highways, cuz the cops have almost twice the range, and can clock you in a milli-second without ur radar detecting a signal (just one faint beep, which most ppl disregard). but they cant give u a ticket if they dont see you so its helpful on detecting speed traps around town. the best feature on the V1 is the arrows, and that may be a reason in itself to get it.

well, another thing that the v1 has and the passport doesn't, is the v1 can detect radars coming from behind. the passport only detect radars from the front and the sides.

actually I am not sure it would have. Without the arrows I probably would have assumed the cop was somewhere else since he was not visible at all, most times I can usually see the cop in the distance but not that time. Either way I am glad I now have a detector.

That is not true, both detectors have much better range then the cops radar, sometimes as much as twice the distance. Just read a radar detector test if you don't believe me.

This is called instant on. If there is no traffic and the cop uses instant on then you are basically screwed either way. But if there is traffic you should be able to pick up small detection when he puts it on to clock someone else.
