Got a q-tion about the phone mute feature...

I have the 2001 330ci. On the steering wheel I have the phone features there but no phone. I am wanting to hook something up to the mute button. I read somewhere about how to get to the wiring harness in the center console but how do I know which wire is for the mute button? Is this correct? I don't want to take the steering wheel apart just to find the wire for the mute button. Any input???

Heh, I don't want a phone...my q-tion is bacily what wire goes to the mute function on the wheel or where is the wiring so I don't have to open up the steering wheel.

I have a related question and thought you might have seen this. I recently bought a 2001 330Cic. The manual says that in order to use the R/T button on the steering wheel, i need to plug in my phone to a place near the reading light over the rear view mirror. Do you know what kind of adapter plugs into that? In addition to the adapter do i have to get anything activated by the dealer as well?
