Flushing the radiator

I got my car back from the mech. today and he said that he DEFINATLY recommends that i flush my radiator out and change filter/fluid. He said the fluid is a SOLID black color instead of the reddish it is supposed to be. I asked him about this because when i put my car in reverse it takes like 5 seconds before it kicks in.

Is this a DIY fix? He sed it will cost me $150 from him to do. What are your guys's inputs?

My local lube and tune will do it for about $50 and get it done in less than 15 minutes.

hmmm... $150 sounds off then... I think he may have said that there was something else wrong with it, he has a heavy german accent. I will have to ask him again. Thanks!

Hopefully this guy is good. His credencials says has over 25 years experience working with foreign cars in Poland, Germany, Belgium and the U.S. and that he was trained in germany by bmw and mercedes...
