external temp sensor e39 540i

Morning guys
can any body tell me excactly were this beast is and why if it thinks it -40 when it is realy +30 does it also tell me to check my break linings
I have taken the battery of several time and it does it every time after aprox 20 minutes

Try the front air dam, brake cooling ducts etc (that's where it is on the E30). It's probably disconnected.
