E46 323 and 325

[spiff325is]

okay, its been on my mind all night after my friend asked me about the E46's. so what is the difference? theres gotta be one. I know they both displace 2.5 liters, but whats different? ratios or compression or what, Im talkin engine and chassis stuff, not interior or exterior works(if there even is a diff)

the engines arent terribly different. the 2.5L M54 didnt get all the improvements the 3L got, and still uses the 323's camshafts. however the 325 did get modified piston skirts and rings, slightly bigger diameter intake and exhaust manifolds, and a non-return fuel rail system.
