Driving LEGAL..

hey guys, whatsup?

i live in Ottawa/Canada..and i was just wondering..how can i know what mods for the cars are legal and what is not....for example:

Under car Neon lights?
liscene plate neon light?
in-car neon lights?
NOS system?
whats the max. legal HP?
Tire valve light?
tinted liscene plates covers?!

and many more question....

I wanted to know where could i find this info from?!

Most of that will be under local ordinance. Give a call to the PD office of public inquiry and find out.

I don't know about Canada but here in Cali if you call up the CHP they will send you a copy of the CAVC(California Vehicle Code) book for a small fee or for free depend on who you happen to talk to that day.

But your Troopers look real intelligent in that imported Super Trooper DVD we just got by way of dog sled. It took 3 months to get here 'cus they had to wait until the river froze solid enough to travel over.

I can't wait till the ground unthaws, I haven't gone and used the outhouse since (counting my fingers...) September!

in canada anything that is not OEM to the car can be considered illegal ,

Neons around your plate should be ok too...though horrible to me.

In car neons...well i dunno about that...probably illegal/annoying if you roll with them on.

NOS is only illegal when you're caught using it....yeah...

Max HP??? I don't think cops carry a dyno with them....

Tire valve lights don't matter.

Tinted plates?? Uh...if the view of your plate is restricted, I'm pretty sure some donut eating pig is gonna harass you at some point in time.

hey guys...
thx for u replies...i was just asking because i was curious....the only thing that i know is illegal, is the BLUE TINTED LISCENE PLATE COVER....i got stopped for that...but no tickets..he was like "do u know that its illegal, i was like no, he was like it's illegal and u have to take it off...i was like k ..."

however, i really wanna know what other things are illegal...and iam not too sure about going to the plice station and ask there...i would look stupid


Anyways guys, if there is another way plz lemme know...
and by the way...i aint thinking about installing any...so don't worry...i just wanna know whats ok and whats not.... Specially NOS....cuze i saw a guy with an old Nissan Z having one right behind him...and he was driving on the street....so i wasnt sure......

NOS is legal, but very expensive to refill the bottle.

I've heard that many speedshops that refill N2O charge you more than if you went to get medical grade from a supply store. SOme of the NOS buddies I have don't use it as often as they would like due to the cost. "I thought I could beat him without it, but I lost 'cus I cheaped out and didn't use it."

In the end a Turbo or a Supercharger would be less expensive than filling all those bottles...

I've bin through this a thousand times. These are only apllicable in Canada cause i did get busted in washington. Very gay!!

Headlights must be white
front Turn signals must be white or amber
rear lights must be red
rear turn signals must be red or amber
Nitrous is illegal
anything covering or altering your licence plate is illegal (but they do make a spray that fogs photo radar cameras, whether it works or not i don't know)
licence plate noen lights can only be red
in car neon lights are fine
tire valve lights ilegal if blinking

that is all the highway traffic and traffic safty act state.

so as long as you have no blinking colored lights and white head lights (h4's draw the line) you should have no problem. I had to go through this when a cop tried to give me a $400 stunting ticket for having blue lights in the front of my car. many cops will try the "forward facing colored lights are illeagle" trick but the are full of SHEEEEET

You can call the police station to find out where to get a copy of the traffic acts. They're only 10 bucks. You can really piss off cops when you know more about it then they do
