Bah...my dads friend has a 635 that hes willing to give to me for 6 grand, i wont have to pay all at once, and i know the history of the car well.

its been in storage for 5 years and money is no problem for him, so bmw Dealer maintaining it was no problem, he is even going to do a 2 grand dealer tune up just so i can test it out for a while.

it does have 250000 thousand miles on it though..

no rust, repainted once, to original color - red

i love this car so much...its such a classic, and just has such great style.


im just wondering what maintanence would be like, he has no problem maintaining it because he has the money to poor into it

he was originally going to sell the car for 14,000 but bc he knows me hes willing to let it go for alot less

will this be a money pit? i really dont have money at this point to be maintaining an antique, and 6,000 could get me a very very nice e36 325 or an e30 with money left over to mod it.

i know that in 100k the drivtrain will need to be replaced or rebuilt
and i was thinking by the time it needs a rebuild or something, i would have enough money to drop an e36 m3 engine in it..that would be sweet

im going to do what hes suggested...just use it for a couple of weeks and see what its like, i dont think im going to be able to part with it when that week is up though

Sounds like u will have some fun. If it were me i would buy a decent E30, i.e.- no rust, well maintaned, manual of course, and at a decent price. Then with ur left over money, make that car amazing, do watever u want to it, with all that extra money u could make an E30 look pretty badass IMO.

and yes i talked it over with the owner today, and we both decided we would rather see the car going somewhere where it can be properly cared for.... going to someone rich

im looking at an e30 tommorrow, 88 325is 140k on NEW in 96 motor - 3,500 bucks

i also looked at one today lol, NONE of the windows worked, well actually one went down...but not back up again. sunroof was busted, scratches EVERYWHERE, and the motor was extremely jerky and had a horribly rough idle...needless to say i passed on that one
