As many of you might have heard, BMW is coming out with the new one and two series. Supposedly, its going to be pretty much a smaller 318i/ti. Maybe even a hatchback. The thing that I'm wondering about is that, is it going to be turbo, like the 1.8T. Anyone got any other news about this series? Like specs and stuff. One other thing, anyone heard about the V8 M3 for next year? Is it really going to happen?
The 1 series is a hatchback. Similar size the the VW Golf.
It comes with 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrols and a 2.0 diesel (which is the fastest) It's the first car to be launched with the diesel equivalent being the performance option!
The 1 brochures are in the dealers now and it is going to be the ONLY rwd hatch of it's kind.
There is no sign of an M version but sources suggest that a S52 powered M1 may be on the horizon.......
(I think that the 2 series is going to be a coupe variation on the 1 series platform, but not sure.... thought they were dropping the 2 and 4 series idea to be honest)
This car is going to be so popular in Europe BM won't be able to make enough!
My only concern is that it may be in competition with the other small hatch currently made by BMW!

Dangit, so I guess the turbo thing was out then! I was hoping for a 1.6 turbo or something but I guess its not happening. Don't get me wrong, the 2.0d puts up very good numbers for being a deisel and all (and 250pounds of torque!!). Oh, well, guess the turbo dream is not happening.
If the rumors are correct wait for the M2. It **Might** have the current M3 engine with none of the frills, justa lighter driving machine from 32-38k(myguess). Don't expect to see too much turbo engines in the BMWs

Sorry if I missed this already being stated, but....
The one series is not coming to America. BMW has no current plans to bring this car to the states. This decision was predicated primarily on the lack of sucess with the 318ti.
Go buy the latest issue of Bimmer Magazine. There is a big article on it (it even made the cover) and you can read my article. It's so nice to be published in such a mag

its' easy to turbo a diesel and they can take mad compression. Most of them can take upwards of 20-25:1 compression. Many can take more.
am i the only one who thinks we need LESS models? BMW has like 10 product lines now. if not more. 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 series, x3,x5,Mcars, and the z4. its the most BMW has ever had at once, if im not mistaken
